Ideal World sells everything from craft goods, beauty products, garden tools, jewellery, clothes, shoes and many other great products for use around the home. They broadcast on free-view and paid for cable/satellite subscriptions. Each hour has a specific theme such as create and craft, pick of the day, gardening in style etc.
Some of the presenters can be a little over the top and irritating at times, but 1 presenter is never on for more than an hour and they are usually joined by an expert in the field of whatever they are selling so you can ignore what they are saying and just focus on the products being shown.
Whilst flicking through the channels trying to find something worth watching I came across Ideal World, they had a crafting special on, and being a card maker/scrapbooker myself I thought I would watch for some much needed inspiration.
I ended up spending a small fortune! Usually the postage and packaging fees are enough to put you off with at least £5 being added to what you think is a bargain price for some cards, but when added you think I might as well get a bus into town and go to a craft shop! However, part of the craft special was free p+p (postage and packaging), this meant that the price you saw on screen was the price you paid.
Another drawback is the 0871 number they want you to call to order, well they have to make their money some way don't they?! But you could also order online (www.idealworld.tv), again it would be free! I just had to have a go.
I went online and found the items that I wanted, put them in my basket and proceeded to checkout. Once there I was informed I need to either log-in or join up (which is free of charge), so I entered a few details such as name and address etc and a log-in number was sent to my email address so I was able to log-in and pay for my goods. It took about 1 week for my first order to arrive by royal mail, my second order (I just couldn't resist some great priced holographic card) came by local courier in just a few days!
So far I have had no spam emails from them or any unwanted contact. I have been informed by post of another craft special they are running for the bank holiday weekend, with free p+p again, but I can't watch it in case I spend even more money!
They do have a special craft club that costs £20 for 1 years membership, as a member you get 10% off all craft items and some other special deals and freebies (although I bet not many freebies!), so if you make a lot of cards then this could be a real money saver.
I have been really impressed with the speed of delivery and the quality of goods is great, just as shown on the television. The good are quite well packaged without going over the top (looking at it from an environmental point of view). I have spent quite a lot of time looking at craft items in some high end specialist shops and I can say that some of the products sold are not the highest quality but they are good, and the prices are definitely a match for craft shops and often a little bit cheaper if you don't want the highest class finish.
Advantages: Arm Chair Shopping - couldn't be easier, a degree in rocket science not required to watch it Disadvantages: Postage and phone costs
...in unfortunately, instead it's a shopping channel available on Sky Digital 654 and also on free view and cable. If you cannot access it form any of those sources, them have a look at www.idealworld.tv.
Channel 664 and 661 are devoted to their new baby, art and craft and vitality.
***How long has it been broadcasting?***
QVC was the original shopping channel and Ideal World came after, poaching half of the QVC presenters with it. It began in the ... ...to brush my teeth and do my hair before I switch on to them.
Needs to re-think its postage costs and make its contact number free phone, other than that full marks to it, especially re-building so quick after the fire.
Thanks for reading and happy shopping ...

Advantages: Products are well shown in great detail. All relevant health warnings are given and reiterated Disadvantages: Prices can be high for certain products.
We came across Ideal World whilst channel hopping one day, not long after we had realised that all our favourite presenters had gone off the "Other Channel" (QVC)
We were soon hooked and whenever there was nothing else on we could be found watching Ideal World.
The range of products is amazing and many of them are much cheaper than you could find in the shops, although we have found that the "current" collectibles (Ty Beanies and Pokemon) can be ... ...to look.
We enjoy watching even if we don't want the products that they are showing as the presenters are "FUN". There isn't any hard sell and like I said before the range of products is amazing. Ranging from Health Aids and Beauty Product to Collectibles and Toys to Household gadgets and music. There really is something for everyone.
The presenters, and "back room" staff all seem to be like one big family and this was shown so clearly after a ...

Advantages: Easy home shopping , some good prices Disadvantages: Expensive premium rate phone charges , some goods poor quality
...poor relation in terms of shopping channels . I have not seen many others only having access via Freeview but have found that Ideal World has a bit of a 'cheap' shop feel about it .
It is located on Freeview channel 22 and can be viewed on-line also . The presenters are a bit of a smarmy bunch . They do not have any charming , natural appeal but rather seem forced and contrived . The channel sells a wide range of goods from clothes to computers ... ...The next negative about this shopping channel is their excessive postage charges . Very rarely there may be reduced postage often on multiple items ordered . If not you may find that you are paying £7.99 on top of the phone charges .
The shows run on similar lines to other shopping channels . A company such as Reflections will have an hour long show with about 6-12 pieces from their ladies clothing range . Models will parade about showing you just ...

Advantages: Entertainment and shopping in one! Disadvantages: none unless you dont like shopping!
...do work for this satellite shopping channel!
But my opinions are totally unbiased, I work in the call centre, dealing with customer services and hotline orders.
Ideal World are the big breakfast type show of home shopping channels.
They are not trying to be another QVC or Shop, although they have 3 of QVC's presentors, Steve Watley, Paul Lavers, Debbie Flint. This is a fun channel, they try to make it entertaining, as well as trying to sell you ... ...they do their best to get it for them!
All in all I love working there, and to be honest I never watch shopping channels, they are boring, but this is entertainment!

Advantages: Cheap goods, exciting Disadvantages: delivery charges are a tad expensive
Amogst the vast array of shoppingchannels that are around at the moment (QVC, Shop!, IdealWorld, Screenshop) Bid-up.tv has to be the best because of it's unique auction-style shopping and it's HUGE savings on products.
At first, the concept maybe quite hard to follow (especially if you have never used an auction before) but it's really easy to use and you will soon become completely addicted! E.g There are 5 televisions at a RRP of £200.00 but Bid-up will start the bidding at £20.00. Once there are 5 or more bidders the reserve price will go up and effectivly you will have to 'bid-up' if you want the product. They also run great adverts showing how to 'play' and after watching these a couple of times you will soon become an auction expert.
They have fantastic brand name products which go for virtually next to nothing ...

opera of the shoppingworld. Who could forget when Cara had her baby, Jilly got married and Steve disappeared without a word only to turn up on This Morning as "Gadget Man". Then Paul left to start up a rival shoppingchannel (IdealWorld), Debbie jumped ship to join him and they both found the long lost Gadget Man Steve who had escaped Richard and Judy?s clutches.
A bit far fetched, yes, but every word is true and many people watch this channel, buy the products and regard the presenters as their friends. This can be seen night after night as callers phone in to praise the service, find out how to use a product and ask after the presenter?s family. One lady even phoned in to give beauty guru Alison Young advice about how to treat her sick horse.
