I picked up a pair about a year ago when I was about to embark upon a little bit of traveling and I don't know how I would have coped without them. The quality is absolutely sensational for the average user (me) and I feel like I'm constantly noticing new bits in the background of my music that I was entirely oblivious to through lesser 'phones.

The cables slip unobtrusively over the top of the ears themselves and down your neck with an unnoticeable but sturdy stealthiness. Top marks here as I have on several times put them in so I could listen to music while I went to sleep and not taken them out until the morning!

Perhaps I have strange ears.
Perhaps that's it and I'm a freak.
Either way, I've always had trouble with earphones, finding them uncomfortable, easily broken and lacking in both sound quality and the blocking of external noise. This was my typical experience with the default earphones I had received with every music player as well as those in the £15 range that had been a necessity of my childhood...

The quality is absolutely sensational for the average user (me) and I feel like I'm constantly noticing new bits in the background of my music that I was entirely oblivious to through lesser 'phones.
In terms of comfort, they come with three different designs of earbud and three different sizes for each which should ensure a tight fit for anyone's canal. The cables slip unobtrusively over the top of the ears themselves and down your neck with an unnoticeable but sturdy stealthiness. Top marks here as I have on several times put them in so I could listen to music while I went to sleep and not taken them out until the morning!
The accompanying protective case is the cherry on the cake as it ensures the durability of the equipment while remaining portable enough to carry anywhere.
So, the sticking point... that price... Shurely they can't be serious...
I managed to pick them up on sale at Amazon for £50 and I have to say even that was a stretch. Would I pay the £80-£130 that Ciao is quoting right now? Not a chance. But that's because I'm currently and ailing student. For those with fuller pockets considering the purchase, my recommendation is unhesitant. Meanwhile, those on a budget might need to look elsewhere if they cannot find an appropriate deal or take a step down to the E2Cs.
However, those who don't mind the financial hurdles will find high quality equipment here and any fears of disappointment will be quickly dispatched with a playthrough of Dark Side of the Moon.
Advantages: Good sound quality, good product support Disadvantages: a bit fiddly to fit at first
...thses units can be fitted. Shure actually reccommend this for a perfect fit. They also supply a number of differant sizes of ear plug to fit onto the speaker stem so try all sizes until a nice fit is achieved. These rubber plugs do tend to get a little dirty with a lot of use but can be cleaned with a weak soapy solution.
Overall a brilliant earphone with excellent sound qualities although fitting into the ear can be a bit of a struggle but can ...

Advantages: Unsurpassed sound quality Disadvantages: Can be Fragile if not looked after
Had these earphones for a year now and they have been fantastic. The sound quality can only be beaten by the E4C or E5C. Very good tone and bass range. The only two minor negatives i could suggest is that the small cylindrical end piece of the earphone is removable and may snap off causing damage if you dont use the supplied protective case! (If they do snap off, use Loctite superglue). The other point is that they can become quite dirty if not regularly ...

Advantages: Excellent Sound, comfortable fit Disadvantages: Maybe a bit fiddly to insert but you soon get the hang of it
I bought these to replace my ShureE3C earphones, I was impressed with the E3C but when I listened to a friends E4C then there was no contest, I found the bass was a lot better than the E3C and the overall sound was more natural.
With the E4C you get a variety of pads which you put on the end of the earphones before you insert them into your ear, its trial and error to find which you will find a better seal/fit, bear in mind that a good fit is paramount, otherwise if you don't have a good fit the bass will be weak and you will not be getting the most out of the E4C, the pads that come with the E4C are yellow foam (personally I found these the best overall fit and provided the best sound but everyone is different) clear rubber in small, medium, large and also some ultra soft rubber in the same sizes again. Also with the E4C is ...
