The legendary Shure SM57 microphone which everyone will have seen at some point in their life even if theyre not into the more 'technical' sides of music! This mic is used all over the world everywhere from recording studios to live on stage! It comes highly regarded by all and is used on a professional level every single day!
This mic is probably the number one microphone that would be recommended to you if you asked someone who knows that theyre talking about which should be your first mic to purchase........why? because this microphone is capable of capturing a great representation of a whole range of instruments from a snare drum on a kit to a vocalist on stage!
Ok so the more technical info........
The frequency response of this microphone is really very steady which makes it perfect for a whole range of instruments and roughly covers everything from 40Hz to 15KHZ so as mentioned a very broad range seeing human hearing is around 20Hz to 20KHZ!
The SM57 is whats called a 'cardioid' microphone which basically means that wherever its pointed it focus on that specific point and will ignore most of the other noise to the sides and behind of it. Going back to what i said earlier this is perfect from a drum kit in a studio for example as you want to be able to mix each piece individually and is great on stage as it stops the pain of feedback when positioned correctly!
The microphone has a standard 3 pin XLR output which is the most common on most microphones today as well as most other audio equipment! so is instantly suitable! As it is a dynamic microphone the mic requires no external power supply unlike a condensor microphone for example which would need phantom 48v power supply but thats a whoooole other story without getting too technically overboard!
The microphone itself is made from painted die cast steel so is probably one of the most resistant microphones about as well! these can be dropped a number of times and still work as well (not that i would recommend it!)
Overall i would recommend them to anyone who doesnt already have one, whether you work in a top notch studio or want to just sit in your room recording demos.....this microphone will be your friend and will quickly give you professional quality, and for the price you can get them for now its a steal!
Go get one and you wont look back! Great!

Great review. You would do better if you posted less in a day, most people only post on average one/two per day. As we are paid for positive rates, and most will only read one or two reviews from a member. Hope that helps. xx
