After playing Civilization IV on the PC I knew what this game was about. You control a civilization and try to be the best civilization. There are numerous ways to do this which I like as it gives you different paths to victory. I also like that you do not have to win through violence, and it makes you concentrate on other aspects of controlling a country which makes it much more realistic. There is a tutorial you can you use if you haven't used the game before which is useful but doesn't show everything the game is capable of. The game can be a bit overwhelming to begin with but once you understand it it should be enjoyable.
The animated world leaders on the game do look fantastic but I feel that the game isn't pushing the Xbox's graphics capapbiliy. However I don't think this detracts from the game as the graphics do not need to be amazing to make the game; the game play is more important.
The sounds from the game are good and depict what they want. However you can play with the sound turned down and won't miss out on anything. I do like the soundtrack. I think it is very fitting for the game.
Once you have played this game once it does get a bit repetitive as you have to start from scratch again. The game developers have tried to make things more interesting by adding scenarios which add some more story behind the game. They have also added collectibles to try and increase the longevity of the game but it can be tedious to collect them all.
I thought this game was good value for money as I got it for less than 20 pounds which I feel is good for an Xbox game.
I have not tried out too many of the multi player features as my Xbox Live doesn't work but I think the game is more suitable for multi player.
All in all I think this is a great game and I am glad the developers brought out a console version of this game as my computer is slowly starting to slow down.

I've played the PC version of this game a lot, and wonder how well in translates to X-Box, as a games console isn't really the obvious format for it. Would be nice if, having played both versions, you could tell us a bit more about the differences between the two. Good review though. Regards, Mike.
