I actually got this phone free through an offer with Avon, but normally it costs £39.99 on Orange (which is the network that I got it from) and is the same on most networks (though I think that it might be cheaper on T mobile) (as of may 2004). I was in desperate need of a phone as my last one had broken, and, not being very technically minded, was relieved to find out how easy this phone was to use. The menus are fairly self explanatory.
Now for the technical bit. The phone that I got is red and silver (because it is on Orange, but generally the phone is blue). I haven't yet been able to find changeable covers in the shops, but there is quite a wide selection on ebay. The screen isn't in colour. The phone is about 13cm long, 6cm wide and 2cm deep. It is quite lightweight and the screen is a reasonable size compared to the phone, about 4cm by 2cm. The battery charged quite quickly (about an hour and a half), and, three days later, I haven't had to recharge it at all and theres still a lot of power left.
The Menu: Messages Text messages are very easy to send, there is a quick link on the opening page to type a new message, and then you can either enter a number or choose someone from your phone book. Another useful feature is that you can type in more than the equivalent of one message at once, and it will split it up and send it separately for you (it tells you at the top of the screen how many messages you are using).
Call records There are records of any calls you have made/received/missed as well as the duration of call time
Alarm Clock Fairly self-explantory, you can set it for multiple days.
Surf and Fun You can have WAP on this phone, but to be honest I haven't tried it yet - will update you when I do! The games are quite good, there is Stack attack where you have to move boxes around, Balloon shooter where you shoot balloons as they pass across the screen, Move the box - a mind puzzle, and my favourite -Wacko, where you have to hit the teddy-like creatures that pop up by pressing the relevant keypad button. There are also other fetures under surf and fun including a calculator and an option for your own pictures and sound.
Ring tones Again fairly self-explanatory, there is a wide selection of tones, and you can group the people in your phone book together and give them different ring tones if you want to.
Profiles Not entirely sure what this is, I think that its just an option for if you need to change the volume more,
Setup This has the clock, language selection etc. for if you want to make changes to the phone
Phone Book You can add, remove and group people, or just view who you have.
Overall, very good value for money (even if you do have to pay for it) and very simple to get the hang of. My only criticism is the slightly fiddly keys, but my old phone was about twice the size, so that could just be me!
