THIS is a phone more suited to pay as you go more than to monthly subscription as it is a more 'basic' phone. Monthly subscription allows you to subsidise a more lavish phone.
Having said that, if you are looking for a cheap pay as you go phone, this phone offers a very small hand print for the money, built around it's tiny battery. Other phones around this price point tend to be much larger 'bricks'. Talk time is a impressive 5 hours though in real world use this is around 3 and real world standby is a solid 4 days (so if you power down at night the phone will last a week. Charging is very slow though, takes around 4-6 hours with the phone on.
Reception on Vodafone is impressively good, transmission and reception are similar to land line phones - the receiver isn't aware it's a mobile. Can't say the same for other networks though, but Cellnet should be good too. Compared to what? well compared to Motorola Starac 70, 130, V3688, A3038, Sony CM111 (remember that one, the first credit card sized analogue phone circ 1994) Ericsson T10, T28, 1018s.
Ease of use? Very good! The graphics on the buttons are clear and easy to use at night (unlike an Ericsson 1018s or T10 with small text and poor lighting on the buttons). The best thing about the C25 is it's user interface, there is a little step in picking it up in the first place, but once you know how it works it is a much better and faster system then on Ericsson's and Motorola's. The menu system uses clear icons, and for SMS use it has auto advance to the next letter with the full character set displayed for that key on the bottom of the screen allowing you to select sepcial characters with ease. (on other phones you usually you have to guess which character is coming up, miss it and you have to 'go around' again).
Functions wise it has keylock, silence ringer function, 1 programable melody tune, ascending ringer tone, and the other usual normal mobile phone functions, so doesn't offer any thing unusual in this department.
There are other more specified phones out there e.g. with clock, calculator, games, more programable melodies, custom front panels etc but if you are after a budget pay as you go phone then this fits the bill, offering 1. best in call quality (on vodafone)..which after all is what you use a mobile phone for 'talking' 2. a slick menu system, so you can use the product, and 3. a very dimunitive size for the price
....less is more!
