When my old phone, one of those brick-like mobiles that has a mind of its own, decided to randomly refuse to answer calls I figured an upgrade was in order. It was a very difficult decision for me to make, and I considered my options very carefully. After a lot of thought I chose the C35i because a) it wasn’t a Nokia (I try to retain a modicum of individuality in the face of the teenage obsession that is snap-on covers) b) it was in the Christmas sale and c) it seemed good value for money compared to the other phones on the market.
Not only is the C35i very sexy to look at but *hurrah!* the antenna is moulded as part of the phone casing so it won’t annoyingly fall off like many other phones. Despite the fact the phone is small it is also reassuringly solid; it doesn’t feel tacky or as if it will break if someone sneezes. Indeed, I have thrown the poor thing around many times and it still looks as good as new. The shape of the phone is a bit …sort of… bendy, so it ergonomically fits both your hand and your ear perfectly.
Aesthetics aside, the C35i does everything you would expect a mobile to do. The internal memory of the phone itself can hold 100 numbers, and the SIM card can hold a further 100. You can also assign pictures to different people, and prioritise your calls with the VIP phonebook. The phonebook itself is well organised, pressing the first letter of the name you are looking for will take you to the right section of the alphabetically stored names. There is a button dedicated to the phonebook which makes finding numbers much easier and less fiddly. Text messages are simple to write, send or store, with optional T9 text prediction. Apparently there is also a sending and receiving Fax thing included, but I wouldn’t have a clue how to use it. Still, it sounds impressive.
There are quite a few ringtones that are supplied with the phone, and also a ringtone composer. This is quite tricky to master, but once you get used to it you can programme just about anything you like into the phone. The internet provides the programming codes for all the usual chart and TV ringtones, and it only takes about two minutes to programme them in. It’s much cheaper than downloading/phoning for Nokia tunes as the codes are all free.
The WAP capabilities of the phone are quite good, I check my emails regularly using my C35i. It connects quickly and it’s easy to navigate your way around, though currently there aren’t a great deal of sites available to WAP users. However, the ‘favourites’ menu (allowing you to input your favourite URLs into the phone’s memory) and the option of adding bookmarks to pages you regularly visit make using WAP much easier, and much cheaper too. Basically, although WAP technology is pretty darn useless right now, the C35i makes the most of the situation and is comparatively quick and easy to use.
The games pass the time but are nothing special; there is ‘Wayout’ a 3D (ish) maze game which is cool for about two minutes but the novelty wears off very quickly; ‘Quattropoli’ which is basically Connect 4 and probably the best game on the phone; ‘Reversi’ otherwise known as Othello and fiendishly difficult; and also the dreaded ‘Minesweeper’, courtesy of Microsoft.
There are two problems I have with the C35I, one is that although standby time is very good, when you are using the phone the battery runs down quite quickly. This is not a major problem as it takes less than an hour to recharge the phone even if the battery is fully discharged, but can be annoying if you are not anywhere near a plug socket. The other problem I have with the C35I is a purely personal and rather insignificant one, but I thought I would mention it to show precisely how few real problems there are…When the battery runs out the C35i lets you know by going BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP rather loudly every 30 seconds or so, accompanied by a message on screen telling you that the “Battery is low”. This is remarkably annoying if you are trying to store a number before the last of the power goes, to the point where you find yourself screaming “I KNOW YOUR BATTERY IS &£*%@#* LOW!” at the poor defenceless phone, which is after all only trying to do its job. Maybe that’s just me. But like I said, they are the only two problems I have encountered with the C35i.
All in all, it’s a gloriously foxy looking phone, it does everything you’d expect it to and more, and it’s teeny enough without being so small you can’t press the buttons. You know you want one.
Advantages: a wealth of special features, good reception, quite small and handy, vibrator function. Disadvantages: external antenna, lack of customization options characteristic of Nokia handsets.
...3210, I upgraded to a Siemens C35i. The main feature that initially attracted me to the phone was, of course, WAP Internet capabilities.
Several months into my ownership, I must say that I am thoroughly satisfied with the phone’s performance, and its features. The question is, of course, not so much whether or not its integral features are superior to older phones, but whether or not this superiority is deemed significant enough for potential ... ...help answer this question. The 3210 is slightly bigger and heavier than the C35i, yet is still more streamlined (with an internal antenna, unlike the C35i), and thus gives the impression of being less bulky when slipped into one’s pocket. The C35i’s external antenna can occasionally make it harder to obtain a good reception – this is clearly evident when one grasps the antenna and sees the reception drastically decrease. Despite ...

Advantages: Attractive, and cheap phone with an outstanding range of features.Good talk and standby times. Disadvantages: Very power hungry backlight
I recently bought a Siemens C-35 on the Genie network, after my previous phone (a Mitsubishi Trium Geo@) ended up having a swim in the toilet at work.I thought it seemed like a damn nice phone,so I eagerly ordered it.
The phone looks stunning, you can get them in a range of colours from green and blue to mine which is "Anthracite Grey".No matter where you go with it,you will get noticed. It is small, thin and prompts comments such as "it's so small" ... ...by customary eye-rolling from me.It has a stubby and quite flat aerial protruding from the top.The battery is behind a back panel and the sim-card lies behind this in its' own carrier;this can be a bit fiddly to insert.
It is presented with a standard keypad, with keys that tend to require a fair bit of prod to get them to press home.It has two keys at the top of the phone (called softkeys) which vary in function according to which screen you are ...

...new mobile phone. A Siemens C35i, it is very light and small compared to my old phone a Philips Diga. The C35i display has icons for Network signal, Battery Charge, date and time using the 24-hour clock, and your network provider, mine is BT Cellnet.
You have two selector buttons, which correspond to options on the display. The Green Phone icon allows you to pick up calls etc… and the Red phone icon allows you to reject calls and to go back while using the menu bars, a long press of the Red phone button turns the phone off.

...I recently brought the Siemens C35i as I was looking for a new and better phone. I already had a Motorola M3888 on Virgin Mobile so I just brought the C35i for £79.99 and put my existing sim card in it.

Battery life is good but some phones are better. One feature I am impressed with is the ability to condition the battery by running it down and charging it back up again, keeping the battery at it’s best. The only thing is that this feature is a long way into the menu structure.
The phone does have Wap capabilities. The Wap browser is ok but Wap in general isn’t that great so it isn’t really anything to get too excited ...

...that mesmerised me was the Siemens C35i. It simply leapt from the pages of our work/club magazine. The features attracted me due to the fact that I am a sucker for gadgets. Some of my closer friends have bandied the term ‘Muppet’ as a euphemism for my gullibility; I don’t know but I am sure Anne-Marie will feel appeased.
Down to the opinion.
Technical stuff straight from the manual.

WAP- please, bought it for this feature. Anne-Marie is right I am a Muppet. Not very good. Advantages: Stylish phone easy to operate Disadvantages: Small power button
I am really pleased that I took the advice of the sales consultant in Carphone Wharehouse and bought a Nokia 6210. I had previously been using a SiemensC35i but found it too small and that it had too short a battery life for my liking. I realise that there are several new flashier phones around now but the 6210 suits my purposes apart from one aspect, I find it difficult to turn on and off because the on-off switch is situated at the top of the phone and is quite small. It is also difficult to access if you have a leather case to protect your phone.
The Nokia 6210 is really easy to use, much easier in my opinion than anything in the Siemens, Sagem or Ericsson range in my experience. The display panel is large and clear and the selection keys and scroll keys are logical and straightforward to use. The sound quality is excellent and I ...

Advantages: STORES up to 500 directory entries; multiple numbers, e-mail addresses and notes per entry Disadvantages: Couldn't answer phone before I lost the call. It took too long to charge phone.
clear and call quality was good (although this is often more to do with network coverage than handset function), and it was reasonably easy to both use numbers stored to make calls and to type in a new number to make a call.
So What Went Wrong?
For some reason, no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get used to the way the phone worked. Every time the phone rang, I tried to answer it. With arthritic fingers, it was difficult to press the correct key in time to receive the call. I tried setting the phone as "any key answer" like I had on my SiemensC35i and MT50 phones ~ I was HALF-WAY there; but now it gave me a choice of "Accept" or "Reject" and I just couldn't press the correct sequence in time. Time after time I lost the call.
The settings were not as easy to personalise as my former Siemens models had been. I ...

Advantages: So many features, great camera, great sound - HOT! Disadvantages: Slightly larger than some phones.... erm... that's it.
I have had Nokia mobiles ever since I lost my first ever phone (a SiemensC35). And I love them. I really enjoy the new range of features and improved usability each time that Nokia bring out a new phone. And this is no exception.
I was given this phone by Orange after two 6600s died, one after the other. And I was mightily pissed off with Orange and Nokia. So much so, that I almost chose to go with another brand.
From the moment I took it out of the box, I was sure I was going to enjoy this phone. It looks FANTASTIC. It's wonderful to hold - not too bulky, not too small. And has so many excellent features - you can't fail to be impressed.
The cameras are both excellent, and the inclusion of the flash makes night-time photos easy to take. No more telling people to hold still while you try and photograph them with night mode. I ...
