I recently bought a Siemens C-35 on the Genie network, after my previous phone (a MitsubishiTrium Geo@) ended up having a swim in the toilet at work.I thought it seemed like a damn nice phone,so I eagerly ordered it.
The phone looks stunning, you can get them in a range of colours from green and blue to mine which is "Anthracite Grey".No matter where you go with it,you will get noticed. It is small, thin and prompts comments such as "it's so small" and "isn't it amazing what they can do these days",followed by customary eye-rolling from me.It has a stubby and quite flat aerial protruding from the top.The battery is behind a back panel and the sim-card lies behind this in its' own carrier;this can be a bit fiddly to insert.
It is presented with a standard keypad, with keys that tend to require a fair bit of prod to get them to press home.It has two keys at the top of the phone (called softkeys) which vary in function according to which screen you are currently on.Mine for instance on the main screen is set to "main menu" and "network services".It has a key on the left-hand side of the phone solely dedicated to opening up the phonebook with a "VIP" phone book activated by pressing the key quickly twice. This is used to store your twenty most dialled numbers. There is a large green call key on the top middle of the phone, with a slightly smaller end call/switch off button to the right of this.
The phone and sim can store up to 250 phone numbers (mine stores up to 190;it is network dependent). Each of these can be assigned a face, which you assign to that individual number. This is only from a combination of nine different features, but it is still a nice touch. The phone has an office and fun section which has an appointments section. These can be set to certain times with a memo attatched to it reminding you of a certain event. This section also includes a stopwatch, countdown timer, calculator, currency converter and alarm. The games include wayout (a 3-D maze game),reversi (Othello),quattropoli (connect 4) and minesweeper (ah!THAT game). These provide a good suitable distraction, and can be quite fun.
The phone has a choice of up to 42 different ringtones and a silent (vibrate) alert. The WAP features are fast and reliable, and encryption security is built in;the choice of having nine bookmark slots is cool and saves lots of typing. The addition of T9 (predictive text messaging, which "guesses" the word as you type from its inbuilt dictionary) makes text messaging a breeze. The addition of enlarging the text for less-able sighted users, and animated icons (a dog,a lighthouse and an eye???)which greet you when switching the phone on or off are nice touches. The phone has triple rate encoding and EFR for clearer speech.
Here comes my major (and only) real gripe for this mobile.Although the phone has a quoted talktime of up to five hours, and a standby of up to five or six days;the powerful backlight can sap the battery power. Thankfully it is switchable on or off,so the long WAP sessions need not be in vain (as long as they are not held in the dark!)
Apart from this is a superb phone, with good looks and features to match.

Why anyone would want to get 'noticed' speaking loudly into a piece of plastic in the middle of the street while getting cancer is beyond me. Am I a breed apart here?
