One Christmas a couple of years ago I received the Siemens MC60, this was after much persuasion on my part as I suddenly desired a camera phone. I know you should never find out how much somebody spent on a present for you but I did, it was £79.99!! This may sound expensive but this was 2 years ago last Christmas. I think the phone was relatively new at that time.
The Siemens MC60 is a good phone if you are using it primarily for phone calls. By this I mean that it isn't the most ideal camera, as the screen as a very limited picture quality (the pictures are easily blurred so IF YOU WANT A CAMERA PHONE LOOK ELSEWHERE!!), and it takes quite some time loading information, especially when you try to go onto the internet (which I have never been successful at doing, I'm abit relieved about this as the internet charges are through-the-roof) the screen would only show the word "loading".
----- Menu Options -----
There is a large button above the "x" shaped keypad, rather like a distorted rectangle. If you push it down to the right it will present you with 9 options. They are as follows.
Camera - I think the camera does the trick for those who don't depend on quality, the clarity of pictures taken using this camera is not great but it is distinguishable at least. You can preview the pictures before you save them into your phone, which is handy because the last thing you want to find out is that you have clogged up your entire phone's memory with the dullest pictures ever :D
Messages - Selecting this option will bring the options to your attention; create a new SMS,
here you may see upto 7 lines of the text just written (at any one time) so this allows you to spot any silly mistakes before sending the message. Create a new MMS, this option allows you to send pictures, text and sound as one item. Inbox, here you have the capability of storing 200 messages, not that I have ever needed 200 messages dwelling in my inbox. Also you can identify whether a message is just a text or it is a picture message before opening it up. Message Setup allows you to draft messages and "set-them-up" (lol) :D
Records - Check the calls missed, the calls received and dialled, this is handy (especially for me as I hardly ever took my phone with me any where, probably out of embarrassment). There is a call duration section here to see how long calls were and there is a clock-reset section to correct the date and time and stuff.
T-zones - Allows you to go onto WAP and visit the T-mobile website to buy games and download polyphonic music etc. The charges for using WAP are ridiculous, so as I said before I am glad I never got past the "loading" stage. :D
Setup - Alter the volume of incoming calls, alerts, messages etc. Change the wallpaper (not that you'll have many to choose from), set a screen saving (you can have still or moving; HINT the moving screen savers take up a lot of battery life and aren't that good anyway). You can ven make your own greeting message (if you're that lonely :D). The ring tones can be changed here, there is a fair sized library on the phone itself but I wouldn't use any of those tones in public! :D You can download tones from the net though, which costs an arm and a leg. Illumination and contrast of the screen can also be changed, this can be handy depending on the time of day, intensity of light etc.) There is a silent mode on the phone which enables you to turn all sound off of the phone, you will know when there is an incoming call or message becaue the vibrate switchs on automatically when silent mode is selected.
Downloads - Here you are able to download pictures, games and audio, all you do is select one and you will automatically be directed to the T-mobile website. Here items cost from £1.50 upto £3.00 (this part I gathered from the manual as I have never been on the net using this phone)
Organiser - You can choose from a monthly view, weekly view and daily view. In this section you can add appointment and set alarms so as you don't miss them. Special menu items allow you to look through special events e.g. reminders, or meetings, This does make things easier (believe me, I have experience). There is quite a large memory for storing reminder, 500 set reminders can be input into the organiser, HOW COOL IS THAT? (not very considering what phones now-a-days can hold)
Phonebook - 100 phone numbers can be stored here along-side the caller's personal details, such as which category they fit into in relation to you (friend, family, etc. etc., in all there are 9 groups but I don't want to bore you), you can also store an e-mail address for each of your 100 phone pals. Caller can be assigned a photo, which will appear when they try to phone you. Also, you can allocate a different ring tone to each of the 9 groups so, depending on which group they are in, you would know whether it was a friend or a family member calling before you even looked at the screen.(AH TECHNOLOGY :D)
Extras - Applications such as currency converter can be very useful if you plan on going abroad, stop watch is you want to…boil an egg?, calculator (we all know what they do), alarm-clock. I think that covers everything that can be found in this section.

--- Summary of phone ---
The phone itself is easy to use and would be ideal to those individuals who have never owned a mobile and maybe find the mobile concept a little alien. GREAT FIRST PHONE!!
This phone comes with the option of contract or pay-as-you-go, the latter is (or should I say was) my preferred choice. The calls are relatively cheap, especially if you are commuting with other T-mobile users, the text rates are 10p per text though so in that respect the contract deal would be the best if you are a textaholic. :D
The phone comes with a great instruction manual that is extremely easy to follow, but this is because the phone has such a lack of features. Most people who buy this phone wouldn't even need to look at the manual its just so obvious "what-does-what". This is good as EASE OF USE IS EXCELLENT but amount of FEATURES IS BAD.
It is ergonomically sound and fits easily into a pocket and feel comfortable when rested in your palm. On the down-side from this the screen is extremely exposed and my screen is actually un-readable (that's why I recently got the Sharp GX17) so DESIGN IS AVERAGE!! However there are several cases and covers designed specifically for this phone and some can be bought through T-mobile stores (which can be found on nearly every high-street).
The clarity of calls is amazing and the reception can always be found (in my experience), I have never owned or used another mobile phone with such crisp, clear reception as the Siemens MC60. RECEPTION EXCELLENT!! :D
I found that after charging the phone, which usually took 30-40 minutes to charge fully, that its battery life died fairly soon. I would say that with a full battery, constant use and turning the phone off, it would last maybe 12 hours!! BATTERY LIFE RUBBISH! Also, just incase anyone was wondering why I didn't mention this, the package includes the charger and so the battery life shouldn't be an issue for most people.
If there are ever any faults with the phone or breakages that you feel you can't (and probably shouldn't attempt) to fix there are many, many T-mobile call centres with help-lines (most of these numbers are stated inside the instruction manual and also include the locations of each call centre should you need professional assistance) and they can either give you advice or send out professionals to repair any damages. HELP AVAILABLE IS GOOD.
At the time I think this phone was cheap considering the lack of camera phone technology available then, but now think it is too dated so VALUE FOR MONEY IS BAD. :C
----- Conclusion -----
On the whole the phone is not for those who like mobile phones (lol), Its great for newbies but not for people who love music, pictures, or games. By the way, the original games on the phone are rubbish and very limited and the rates for which you would have to pay for new games are astronomical. Just a little hint :D
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
I prefer mobile phones without "gimics", but a good battery life is important to me, so this wouldn't suit me.
