Of three phones, in the past four year my current Siemens S45 is the best yet. I owned a Siemens S25 back in 1999-2000 and was then persuaded by various incentives to change contracts and 'upgrade' to a Nokia 3310.It was supposedly a more modern, fresh alternative. My year of ownership was a dark period .. but this is a review of a wonder that is a siemens mobile phone. Without being selfish it would be worth reading Sooticas review of the features of the S45 as i can't really say anything more about what functions the phone has!!I will concentrate on its main user benefits.
Good points: 1)Small to handle, without the microphone being closer to your eyeball than your mouth like some phones on the market. 2)Excellent interface and storage facilty for numbers and contact info.Connects to PC with inclusive cable (saving ££££) and can sync numbers and image files. 3)Using the inbuilt modem you can go online via the cable using an 0845 number which is handy if you have a contract with free off peak calls. Laptop/PDA owners have a infra red option aswell. 4) Works as comprehensive PDA in its own right. 5)Long battery life and signal coverage in most areas depending on network. 6) Screensaver is a watchface which is just downright different. 7)How many people do you know with one? Believe me this is not because they are shockingly poor, its because we need converting. 8)Large screen for easy display and reading text messages/emails from WAP. 9)Built in multi use dictaphone and the ability to record and playback during phonecalls. 10) Built in speakerphone so no more need for expensive in car phone kits.
It has a multitude of tones(don't they all), a ringtone composer and the option to download tones and logos.
It doesn't offer the option to change the covers, but this is no detriment as the phone is a cool brushed silver and modernly sculpted with oodles of individuality.
The only bad point i have come across is that the large screen can be scratched easily but that was before i could get a case for the phone. It is now cocooned in a protective shell just like it should have been from day one.
I paid £20 for the phone with an O2 contract in summer 2002.The nokia 3310 was sold for more than that (lucky me) and i have assured myself that never again will i be a nokia owner until they can match the facilities and style of siemens.
I look forward to staying with this phone until the next siemens offering comes along.

Thought this was a good op but felt that some of the terms were a bit too technical. Glad to see you have broken away from the standard Nokia trend.
