I’m a man who likes my toys, plain and simple. This phone is easily the best I’ve owned, obviously it’s the newest phone I own as well which has something to do with my opinion. I was waiting for the new Nokia 7250 to come out (the same as the 7210 but with a camera built in), but I saw an ad for this phone and had a look at the web site, www.my-siemens.com.
The site was more than informative; it gives stacks of info about the phone and the camera. I haven’t had a chance to check out all of the features yet, but the sheer volume of features was one of the main reasons I bought the phone. I bought the phone from the Carphone Warehouse for £280; this is quite expensive I know. It comes with the
camera, charger, data lead, a little leather carry case for the camera and of course the phone itself is there too.
As I stated, I bought the phone sim-free, it is available on contract and prices really do vary. My personal choice would be to buy it direct from the o2 web site on the online 100 tariff for just £99.99.
The phone itself is very small and light at 101 x 42 x 18mm and 85g, the camera isn’t integral, it clips on to the base of the phone although it only ads a couple of grams. The battery has a 300 hour standby time and 6 hours talk time. The best part is that it takes under 2 hours to charge fully.
The camera takes photos at two resolutions 160 x 120 pixels and 640 x 480 pixels, the smaller of the two is really only any use for multi media messaging. The photos don’t look ‘amazing’ on screen due to the low resolution, 7 line, 101 x 80 display, but are quite good when transferred to a pc.
The camera has a built in flash, which I don’t think any other phone has?!?
The phones main appeal to me was that it seems to be based around the functionality of a pc, it has Bluetooth and infra red and it has the ability to be completely synchronised with Microsoft outlook or Lotus Notes. It can sync contact, calendar, tasks etc. The Email client supports SMTP, POP3 and IMAP4. It has voice memo capabilities as well as a normal memo function.
It has stacks more features such as email, WAP browser, GPRS, java games, polyphonic tones, T9 dictionary, loudspeaker, voice dialling, voice menu activation.
The technical side of the phone is more like a PC than a phone it has a flexible shared memory, it isn’t automatically split into areas. Each folder uses as much of the memory’s space as it needs to, I found this very useful.
When connected to the computer via a serial port, you can access the phones memory and read it as if it was a selection of folders on your PC. It comes with all necessary software on CD, although Siemens provide an area on the website to download any software available, they also have an area to download ring tones etc. although this isn’t free.
So far I have had no problems with this phone, it seems to be quite robust too, the build quality seems better than a Nokia and it even withstood a pint of larger being spilt over it, whoops!!
All in all this is a good phone, the functions are more business suited than anything, if your likely to use the Outlook sync function, you will find this excellent, especially if you travel a lot.
The only let downs with this phone is the low res screen, the buttons seem a little fiddly at first and it’s a wee bit complicated to configure properly.
I'm not finished yet, I'm gonna do some more work with the phone and see what happens, update soon.

After really getting to grips with this phone i've found it to be a useful business tool. I regularly use the synchro feature that comes bundled with the software to synchronise the address books between my personal and work computers.
The data lead that is supplied is very useful as well, i use this to transfer ringtones and pictures back and fourth with ease.
Havnt really got to grips with the bluetooth yet!!
Overall, i've found this to be a very good phone although the battery life could be improved

Just got one to replace Nokia 3310. It is better, but, it does take a little getting used to. Fair & useful review and I'm now off to www.my-siemens.com.

Very useful and detailed. Hope to see an update when you've had it a bit longer.
