...year. This like brand new siemens dishwasher has been a pleasure to use and a total life saver. We have 8 people living in our house and 5 are international students, so we have a vast range of cultery, chopsticks, woks, pans, huge plates, weird shaped bowls, tea pourers and all sorts.
Really the range is massive. And also with that comes a mixture of dishes that are cooked which means the washing up soon mounts and also the type of dirt ...
...and can afford to splash out as I think they're about £400 in the shops, but it is a siemens and should last for many years, far beyond it's 3 year manufacturers guaantee. A good xmas idea?

Left for us, ok well we had to give them £350 for it, by our old housemates whom inhabited our lovely little terranced house last year. This like brand new siemens dishwasher has been a pleasure to use and a total life saver. We have 8 people living in our house and 5 are international students, so we have a vast range of cultery, chopsticks, woks, pans, huge plates, weird shaped bowls, tea pourers and all sorts.
Really the range is massive. And also with that comes a mixture of dishes that are cooked which means the washing up soon mounts and also the type of dirt produced from making such dishes is incrediably diverse too. Much of which tends to be greasy american food, or hard baked on oriental dishes. But this makes reviewing our dishwasher fun, and also quite useful as I can comment on how good it is over tackling a broad spectrum of food mess.

Measuring 85cm in height and almost 60cm deep, it's a convention looking square dishwasher, colour : white. It's easy to wipe over clean too as is made from a plastic covered metal, so even though it's white, ketchup can still be rremoved to help keep the kitchen looking smart.

How does it work?
Theres a flip open draw inside for the power or dishwasher tablets, we use these swanky new aeriel ones which are half powder tablet and half liquid, it just means we don't have to arse around with cleansing fluid. Also dishwasher salts are recommended for best use by the manufacturer. But really. We're students and can't afford/ be bothered to carry any back from the supermarket, so alas we do without.
Theres an impressive 8 programme setting, but we tend to just use one of either two - intense or quick wash.
The noise level is about average for a dishwasher, although i can say it's much quiter than our washing machine, but still makes a hmmmm, swish, swash noise.

The results are also fantastic! Sparkly clean pans and plates. I know you're supposed to scrub or soak baked on grease and grime but really when you're starving there is no time. Really no time, every second counts before your stomach starts folding in and commences eating itself.
As i said before, fantastic results, pans come out with no scorch marks and glasses don't have those annoying watermarks that some can leave. It's a fab dishwasher and even deals with rice/ burnt cheese/ frazzled sausage and roast dinner muck.
The only downside is the driying session. Once finished we can't wait to grab the plates and to out own dire consequences we get burnt hands or smashed plates, if like some certain housemate, can't handle the heat and drop them.
It's reassuring to know that our plates reach over 100 degrees C so all germs are killed, however this makes handling them a bit tricky. I'll also mention here that theres a child lock feature, but we never use it. It'd designed that once it starts it can't be opened. But we like this luxury as someone's always forgotten a cup or glass once the cycles begun.

Overall I'm awarding our lovely kitchen friend a 5 star rating, a bargain deal for £350.00 from the previous tenants, we're realy impressed with the cleaning power and also the speed of a basic wash. You can have nice clean plates in just 45 minutes, which is great if you've just got in and can't cook because theres no crockery. Simply load, set off and have a shower or watch some telly before it done. Or if your super efficient (like sally our cook), do some food prep as you wait.

Als has a good clear manual and convient plate spaces and cultery arrangement so you can efficiently stack many many plates. However it's not really big enough for our household which has 8 undergraduate students to support. But would be more than adequate for a family of four or a normal household.
A nice looking and not too noisey dishwasher, recommended if you want a posh one and can afford to splash out as I think they're about £400 in the shops, but it is a siemens and should last for many years, far beyond it's 3 year manufacturers guaantee. A good xmas idea?
