I won't give you a list of description and features, you can find those in greater details by visiting www.siemens.com/sl45 you can get all the flash animation and pictures, in addition to the extended services provided by Siemens or third parties (i.e. music, animation down loads etc.)
The SL45 has a large screen taking up over a third of the phones length. As a result, the number keys are located very low on the face of the phone. People who like to tap in numbers (or text messaging) using one hand may find it difficult to do so on the keys located on the bottom row. I suppose the saving grace is that the SL45 has the T9 predictive text construction software saving many awkward and repetitive key strokes. The SL45 does not record send messages, and if you accidentally press the end key during your composition of a text message you are unable to retrieve it so you must rewrite it! What I don’t like about the SMS feature is that with megabytes worth of available memory you can only receive 10 SMS messages before the inbox is full, Siemens should have designed the software to automatically move the old/new messages to the MultiMediaCard where there is ample space.
The phones various multimedia functions are supported using the removable 32Mb (standard) MultiMediaCard. It is used to store addresses (on the phone) MP3 and Voice Memos, as well as enabling the phone (the card) to be used like a floppy-disk storing any other desired file (spreadsheets, pictures etc.) The 32Mb can hold around 30-40 minutes, and still allow 30 minutes of voice memos (depending on play back quality), in the near future a 128Mb MultiMediaCard will be available.
There is one negative aspect of using the Sync Station (supplied with the phone) is the time it takes to transfer the data to and from the PC. My computer takes 15 minutes to transfer a standard size MP3 file to the SL45. The SL45 comes with a CD containing software such as RealJuke box and a Card Explorer. This enables you to manage files on the card, record and play MP3 files, ring tones etc. Owners of Palm Top computers will be familiar with this system, the compatibility with Microsoft's software was personally, a positive bonus.
The phone’s built in appointments and calendar function is helpful but not detailed, its good for brief reminders, for those who have used a Palm Top or a organiser may find the 30 or so character spaces well restrictive. Another disappointing function was the voice control, with many phones you get voice dialling. The SL45 has this function and requires two input recordings and is a vast improvement over early versions of voice recognition, but the term voice control is only limited to the MP3 player and the Dictaphone, which is pretty disappointing for those expecting full control.
One thing you will definitely notice when you use the stereo head phones when on a call, the volume on both ear pieces are equal, so the first few times this happens the person on the other end of the line voice its like having voices in your head!
Overall, it possesses most or all features available to mobile phones today. It can be easily customised to individual needs by using the easy-to-follow software and the Sync Station, also the in-built help facility negates the need to continually refer to the manual. As for a phone, it does have a Fast Search function, which when activated network reconnection is speeded up at the expense of stand by time, good for those in areas of bad reception expecting important calls.
This phone has so many features it will take an extraordinary array of functions from another device (in the same price range) to supersede the Siemens SL45. A practical bundle of gadgetry to pose with!
Advantages: Everything you could want (and a bit more) Disadvantages: transfer of data takes time
...saw the advert for the Siemens SL45 in the Times supplement in May. What caught my eye was that the ‘phone was capable of recording, as a Dictaphone, up to 5 hours of conversation. Great for lectures etc. now that I am returning to University, and with a birthday in early June loads of hints, leaving the advert in conspicuous places and berating my old mobile had the desired effect – I got one!
I ordered over the web and the phone cost £109.99 with ... ...small fixed (unbreakable) antenna. Why Siemens chose to incorporate one I don’t know, unless, due to space (and the amount of features, more of which later) there is no room inside for an internal one.
The pack includes a desktop charger which also doubles as a data transfer station and PC sync. Connect to a serial port and transfer contacts from MS Outlook, download MP3’s onto the phone etc. The only problem is the length of time this takes. This ...

Advantages: sleek and stylish Disadvantages: small keys make it hard to dial
The Siemens SL45 is one of the most expensive phones on the market (mine cost £200), but with good reason. The phone is small and stylish and has loads of excellent features.
The phone is silver, with a large screen and small keys. Its very easily lost as its tiny, and very light. This is one of the few disadvantages. Typing a phone number can be a little difficult, as the keys are so crammed in.
I was attracted to this phone for its MP3 player, ... ...the latest gear!) The mutimedia card which is included with the phone can store up to 45 minutes worth of music, and according to the phone manual, multimedia cards with more memory can be bought. The mulimedia card can also hold up to 5 hours worth of dictaphone recordings. (much fun has been had by putting my phone dictaphone and recording friends chatting) I suppose those wanting more out of a phone than a way to wind up mates, this would be an ...

Advantages: A technological dream, MP3, dictaphone, voice dialling Disadvantages: None
The Siemens SL45 is the latest offering of WAP enabled mobile phones but with a major technological difference. I have been using the phone which I purchased in the Vodaphone shop for £170 for 2 weeks and it still continues to amaze me!
The SL45 is sleekly designed weighing only 88g (not much more than the Nokia 8210). It is beautifully finished in silver and feels very good to hold. The screen is a high resolution WAP screen with a very nice orange ... ...difference with the SL45 compared to the rest of its peer group is the clever use of a MultiMedia smart memory card (32Mb supplied). This allows the phone to act as a very good quality MP3 player, a voice dictaphone which also allows you to record conversations, customisable screen and ring tones and enormous memory for storing data.
Let me tell you about the best bits :
1. THE LOOKS - Super sexy...no faults
2. VOICE ACTIVATED DIALLING - Works ...

Advantages: It is ultra slim and incredibly light, built in MP3 player, Disadvantages: it’s a lot of money if you are not going to take full advantage
...is the niftiest little phone Siemens has produced to date. In fact it’s the trendiest phone any mobile company has produced. The SL45 is super-sleek and incredibly stylish without even trying to be. It is ultra slim and incredibly light, weighing in at a meagre 88 grams. Which is nothing considering what it can do for your life. The edge over its contenders is the phones built in MP3 player, perfect for losing yourself on long commutes. With ... ...serial protocol generally. Be aware, Siemens seem to have forgotten to put a backup on the CD and, according to the laws of life, systems do crash, limiting your chances of retrieving the systems files.
All this is well and good, but unless you are blessed with an abundance of patience, photographic memory and/or any technical skill you may find frustration gets the better of you and you don’t progress from the basic phone functions. There ...

The premise of buying a phone and getting an MP3 player thrown in seemed too good an opportunity to pass up.
The unit is quite stylish, although the layout is not greatly practical. The keys are too small and located too near the bottom of the handset. The MP3 controls on the side of the unit are very handy though. The MMC card is flushly incorporated, though the card holder looks a little flimsy.
Switching the handset on takes an eternity, but ... ...distinctive retro orange backlight. Navgating the menus is easy, but the handset can take some time to respond to each keypress, which can be infuriating.
The recption is ok, at best.
Functionality wise there is a lot on offer from the SL45. The MMC card makes life easier here by providing masses of memory (I bought a 128Mb MMC to fit more music on, though the supplied card is adequate for everything else) . From Java apps (which can be downloaded ...

Advantages: Small, Stylish, Easy to Use Disadvantages: Not Tri-band
I have heard a couple of complaints about this phone, so i'll deal with these first.
i) Flimsy Construction - Whilst the T720 doesn't feel as sturdy as some phones, I haven't experienced any problems yet (I haven't dropped it YET though).
ii) Low Battery Life - The battery life is easily sufficient for my use, leaving the phone on for a weekend with moderate usage still leaves half the battery life. I was expecting much worse after reading some reviews.
iii) No way to download games/ringtones without paying WAP prices - True, but these aren't the reasons I bought the phone.
I bought the phone to use for standard calls, text messaging and WAP browsing and it manages these all very well. The signal and reception seem a lot better than on my old SiemensSL45. The external LCD display is a welcome addition, allowing you to know who ...
Advantages: Superb menu system, Packed with Features, easy to learn/use Disadvantages: Slightly bulky, Not enough memory
-dated. The phone is amazing on it's own but not in-front of say the Sony Ericsson P800 which is my next phone. Having said that I still believe the Nokia 7650 menu system is still more simple and intuitive then the P800.
If you would like my opinion on the phones I've owned / Extensively used then feel free to contact me and I will try to write a "long-ish" opinion on them. Here's a few of the phones:

Siemens: SL45
Sony Ericcson: T68i, A1011, P800 (v.soon)

Advantages: Graphics, operating system, good colour screen, easy to operate key pad. Disadvantages: Bad quality pictures (for PC), very low ringtones
iPaqs. I wasted a lot of time trying to get it to communicate with my pc via TDK bluetooth device (USB) and then I found out from nokia and TDK that there's a compatability issue. The best way to get it connected to your PC is via infrared so get hold of a USB infrared device and off you go, using the nokia pc suite or not.
Coming from a SiemensSL45 that used to crash frequently, the nokia 7650 (had it for almost a month) is rocking. The pictures from the canera are ok for viewing them on the camera but when viewing them on a PC you will sadly discover that the quality is pretty poor. Especialy in the dark.
Also another annoying feature is that all the ringtones are not very loud. Try having the phone inside a car with the music on and no way you will hear it. Forget the old loud noise coming from nokias like the 3330 ...
