This phone is one of the smallest I have ever seen, but you know with the Siemen's name that you are going to get the best quality. I have owned many Siemens phones, even the earlier model of this sliding design, and have not had a single problem with them yet. I have also owned motorola phones and Sony phones (I will NOT touch a Nokia phone as long as I live) and have been dissatisfied with them, so I came straight back to Siemens.
Even though the phone is small it feels very sturdy and solid. Most small phones feel like they will snap if you put too much pressure on them, and I'm a welder and fabricator. This phone easily copes with the heavy weights and sparks and metal dust that I subject it to.
The buttons are nicely raised allowing you to easily distinguish which buttons you are pressing without even looking (ideal for texting while driving - which I would never do of course).
The screen is of a fair size and has a very helpful display system with the 2 function buttons on each side of the bottom of the screen allowing easy access to many functions saving time and effort.
The GPRS feature is quite fast, when it works. Half the time I cannot connect to my WAP for some reason or another. I'm not sure why so I can't comment on it too much. Once it works you can surf your WAP with super speed, it even beats my 56k modem on my PC.
Although it doesn't get supported much for downloading games and ringtones, with companies preferring to make their wares for more or less just Nokia phones, the one's that are availbale are of a good quality and the ones included on the phone are more than enough for my needs with tunes ranging from classical to funky. The games included are rather good with Rayman golf being a favourite of mine and it includes a cool remind me feature which lets you make lists for if you're going shopping, to a meeting or on holiday to make sure you don't forget anything. It also includes a handy convertor program which lets you convert all manner of things from metric sizes to imperial, lbs to kg, bra sizes for all sorts of countries, shoe sizes, etc.
The memory available on the phone is very good with my text inbox often sporting about 100 texts before being asked to free up some space. The files on the phone can all be accessed via a windows style interface making it easy to manage and select any item, from ring tones, games, sound bytes you've created, images, etc.
The phone has a handy dictaphone feature allowing to record many different sound bytes for when you need to remind yourself about something or record some very important information. The playback quality of this is excellent. There is also the option to use the phone hands free with the loudspeaker option saving you from having to buy a handsfree kit for your car. Also dialling can be made easier using the voice dial feature. Just set the number to voice dial, record your voice and you're away. If you don't want to do that the dialling system is quick and easy to use.
The phone also has the option to take photo's using a clip-on camera which is sold seperately. The photo's can then be used as desktops for your phone, be sent via MMS or via the infrared port on the side of the phone.
This phone has an awful lot of features crammed into it for it's size and for me, I feel that what it gives me is all I need. Some phones go too far and include features I would never use. Everyone loves the design of it and I got this from O2 online for free, which no-one can grumble about. I highly recommend the phone but it may take a little while to get used to the controls if you are a previous Nokia owner. Once you do you will find it very rewarding.
