After seeing the great adverts on T.V for the SL65 i decided to upgrade from my MC60. Being a great fan of Siemens mobiles I expected an easy to use, reliable phone. I got the phone on contract so didnt technically pay for it but it was valued at £299 for insurance purposes (from dialaphone). The phone has a colour screen, MMS, GPRS, infared, digital camera and many more features but these in particular are the most important and what attracted me to the phone.
I have found the camera to be superb. You can choose from a variety of settings (premium, high, medium, wallpaper)and the lens can zoom in 5 times and you can make adjustments to the light to suit the environment you are in. the picture quality itself (on the premium setting)is great. The images are sharp and it picks up light and colours really well. You can also record some short video clips with the camera but these are not very good quality and ive found that the sound always comes out really loud.
The coulour screen i would rate at the same level of quality as the camera. Unfourtunately I am yet to go online from my mobile in fear of making my monthly bills any higher than they already are!
The accessories on the phone are endless. After having the phone for a whle i was still finding new things to play with. The phone has JAVA games to play on and oddly enough a personal fitness trainer which shows you different exercises for different body parts!?!?! A calander is available for you to store appointment and birthdays etc and your usual phone components such as alarm clock and calculator. Also there is a fairly effective photo editor for adusting all the photos youve taken on ur camera.
Within the phone/address book (which ever you set as default) you have the option to store more details about your friends than just their phone numbers (e.g. D.O.B, email etc).found this very helpful as i was able to set reminders for peoples birthdays!
Being familiar with Seimens mobiles I found the SL65 very user friendly. However you may have problems with the buttons if youre fingers arnt as slim as mine!
You may be wondering what exactly the disadvantage is with this phone. Well....after having the phone for roughly 4 months, one day the small joystick which is used to navigate your way around the phone stopped working completely. then over the space of 3 days all of the buttons had stopped working and the phone switched itself off when you opened up the slider. Luckily for me i have insurance on the phone and was able to take it back for repair but unfourtunatley the fault was so bad i had to accept a replacement (loosing all of my contacts!!). but now after having the new replacement phone of the same model i am starting to experience some of the same problems (e.g. phone turning itself off).I also find myself having to charge the battery every other day!
Although this is a very good phone with many advantages I would suggest to anyone that wants to purchase one to get a good insurance package with it to prevent you loosing out if something should go wrong.

Great review and good advice. I'm looking at upgrading my current phone so I'll steer clear of this one.

I was actually thinking of purchasing this phone as a gift for a friend and after reading this review, have decided to have more of a look around before I decide further. I have therefore found this review very helpful and informative. Bravo!
