Advantages: Beautiful design Disadvantages: Fault on two separate machines; doesn't toast all that well.

I had to have this to complete my kitchen - it's great to look at - but ultimately it's not that great a machine. You're paying for the looks and the porsche name. I sent mine back to Siemens when, within a month, the locking mechanism failed and in order to toast anything I had to stand over it holding the wheel in place.
And I am now sending back the replacement they sent me, because that too has developed the same fault - so I reckon it's probably a general problem with this model. On that basis alone this is best avoided. It isn't worth the cost for a machine that is so unreliable. I'm trying my luck with a Dualit next.
Even when working, the wheel mechanism itself is not a great success, in that it's not particularly easy to use despite looking like an innovation. Anyone with mobility problems should definitely avoid this one.
The digital countdown and the blue LED features are really good; I like the fact that it has a roll-over cover for when it's not in use. The rack for croissants and the like is also a good idea. But the much trumpeted slow-rise mechanism is no different from a normal toaster. And at the end of the day the heating elements on this machine are not really good at making evenly-toasted bread.
I also had problems with the matching kettle. These are standard products in nice casings and a hefty price tag.
Advantages: Nice little features and looks fantastic Disadvantages: Expensive
I own this toaster too, but I have not had the problem that the other reviewer appears to have had and hope I won't have similar problems later on...
It looked quite complicated to use, so I read through the instruction before using it. It is actually very easy to use. I got the toaster to match the kettle, and so far I am happy that I got it, even though I paid more than what's supposed to be the cheapest offer now. Perhaps the manufacturers have ... ...sell. When the bread has been toasted, the toaster only pops gently, so the bread never jumps out of the toaster completely--this is a neat feature. It is very attractive for a toaster--there is something futuristic about it. I will update section "Value for money" depending on how long it lasts! ...
