Advantages: No need for a vent. Dries laundry well and has a sensor.
Disadvantages: Generates a lot of heat. Not the most compact model in the world.

...After using our brand new tumble dryer for over six weeks now I feel that I have used it enough to write about it. I’ve never had a tumble dryer before, so this is a whole new product to me, I only have my own experiences to go on and I don’t have any other dryers to compare this one to. ~~~Why we decided to get a tumble dryer. We don’t really have any drying space in our house (just a couple of radiators) because our only fire is in the living room and drying clothes in front of that would obscure the TV (and we don’t want THAT!). Drying outside means hanging things out in the back garden, but this isn’t possible in winter or when the weather is wet. ...Two years ago we decide to buy our first tumble dryer. As usual when looking for new electronic or household appliances I looked to Which? to see what was the best machine to buy. Which? said that this model had accurate automatic drying programs and was one of the quickest machines they had tested and it was a best buy. That was good enough for us so we went ahead and bought it. It cost us £249 and was delivered free. The Basics The John Lewis JLDV02 is a vented tumble dryer. This means that the exhaust gases leave the machine via a tube which should be connected to an outside wall or window. The machine is white and it does not contain a glass door. ...This is a condenser tumble dryer with a 7kg capacity. The dryer came into my life in an hour of need - the week before Christmas, 2006, we had moved into a rented house with a 5 month old baby, a toddler and found out that we had no TV reception and no way of plumbing in the washing machine. My previous not very good vented Hotpoint chose this moment to give out the ghost and my husband, bless him, somehow managed to get this tumble dryer delivered and Sky TV connected, so I guess you could say that, sadly, this dryer was my present that year! I wasn't involved in the buying decision, other than saying "don't get a Hotpoint", and "I would like a Miele" - however the price of this dryer at £400 (it still seems to be around this price), cheaper than a Miele, and I think the 5 year extended warranty were what swayed him.
