Almost perfect DVD player

Advantages: DivX, price, small and light
Disadvantages: USB 1.1 only, front display controls too small

One day last month I found our 3 month old DVD player no longer worked (back to the shop for you - if I can find the receipt). It was a really nice (though cheap) DivX DVD player. It had a USB interface so I could watch DivX files from our computer via a flash memory drive - a really cool feature. So I was gutted that the machine didn't recognise any discs put into it. * Time for a new DVD Player * The next evening was spent browsing around some sites on the Internet. I found some very good reviews about the Sigmatek XS-700 PRO player. Review of Sigmatek XS-700 PRO

Excellent value for money

Advantages: It can play EVERYTHING! Lots of connections! Very good price.
Disadvantages: Not such a good menu.

Before buying this, I bought a Sony and a Philips. The Philips was only playing 75% of my DivX/XViD movies and it broke down after 9 months. The Sony could only play 10% of my movies and I sent it back. The Sigmatek can play everything! I still haven't managed to put something in that couldn't be played. Moreover, it has the most connections that I've seen on a single device. It even has HDMI. The only thing that I would say is missing is a VGA connection. It can also play DivX subtitles supporting different languages. All you have to do is make sure that the movie file and the subtitle file have the exact same name. The menu is not the best, as you can only read the first 10 or 12 characters of each file and you don't have a lot of settings options. However, all the essentials are there. The other thing I like about this model is ...
