On a lonely road swirling with mist, sits a lonely sign. The sign, rusted with age, reads "Welcome To Silent Hill". If you ever see this sign, run away. Run far away.
Silent Hill Origins is one of the most disturbing and twisted games ever made. Cult meetings, sacrifice, painted stars, creepy music, blood and mutated monsters are main ingredients of the Silent Hill franchise.
Enter Travis Grady. A single and lonely trucker with no family. His mother was institutionalized in an insane asylum when he was a child, where she eventually rotted away. Full of grief, his father eventually committed suicide.
One night, Travis takes a shortcut and ends up in the town of horrors, Silent Hill. This place is born from his memories. The monsters in this town are twisted reflections of his past.
The graphics in this game are relatively strong for a hand held game. They are gritty and raw, unpolished. For the most part, the game is dark and gloomy.
The storyline, in my opinion is flawless. It springs straight from a classic horror movie. It contains multiple twists that will keep you on your toes.
In terms of gameplay, it is a bit too heavily puzzle oriented, the monster bashing is superb.
Atmosphere wise, the game really delivers. Fog filled streets, cracked mirrors, dilapidated asylums, blood-spattered walls and suicide notes are everywhere. The monsters in this game are also amazing. Faceless nurses, carrion and creepy puppets prowl the game.
The only real flaw of the game is its length and lack of originality. An experienced player can get through the game in about three hours. For first timers, it's more like ten. And also, this game doesn't really have any new material that differentiates it from any other SH title.
Overall this game is one of the scariest games on the hand held and is perfect for an experienced or amateur survival horror lover.
Advantages: creates hours of enjoyable fear Disadvantages: your dinner gets cold
...a well followed game by silent hill fans especially after the name of silent hill has been constantly growing, first it was the games then the film and nicely followed up by this new installment for the psp. It is a story of a trucker who gets stranded in the eerie town of silent hill and would like to find out whats going on and where everyone is. The game features a new array of weapons with an improved shooting method. The puzzles are harder, ... ...and not short for gameplay duration (especially as it is on the psp). overall it is a must buy for the psp and now the playstation2 (i believe areas of the game vary from console to console). the game includes a new line up of creatures and obstacles and of course still carrying some of the old ones such as nurses, also locations throughout like the school and the apartments. This game is a 10 out of 10 for me. ...

Advantages: compact, MP3 & MP4 playback, huge variety of games, lightweight Disadvantages: sound could be a little louder - can be hard to hear if used in crowded environment
The PSP Slim is an amazing hand held console, without a doubt ,the best hand held on the market at the moment. It has many features including MP3 & MP4 playback, Internet capabilities, USB port, camera software (although the camera add on is not included with the psp), abilty to save, and many other functions. The PSP has a huge variety of games available, something to cater for all tastes; some of the popular titles include Tomb Raider Anniversary, The Sims Castaway, SilentHillOrigins and The Simpsons.
My advice is to not buy a PSP from a store, but to buy one online from E-Bay in order to obtain a PSP that has been uploaded with custom firmware. This will then upen up whole new gaming capabilites, enabling you to be able to download and play a variety of homebrew games by saving them to the PSP's memory stick. It will also allow ...

If you've ever wondered just how the town of Silent Hill became the eerie mess that has been seen over four previous Silent Hill games then this new PSP title will reveal all set as a prequel to the events that have been before. This dedicated PSP title copes beautifully with creating the creepy feel of Silent Hill and will keep players engrossed from start to finish with the well crafted storyline the range of enemies and puzzles to solve as well as the haunting soundtrack composed by the legendary composer Akira Yamaoka responsible for the musical score on all of the other titles. The game follows Travis Grady a truck driver who has become stranded in Silent Hill. Naturally he has a few of his own demons to contend with and throughout the course of the game both his and the town's secrets come to the fore. The gameplay is still classic Silent Hill - but with tweaks and additions created specifically for the PSP. Players can now lock onto enemies to attack and will also find the control scheme changing intuitively for each situation. Players also utilise an enhanced camera designed with the PSP in mind as well as an updated control method for more detailed exploration of the environment. There are now 'Cineractive' element where players have to hit buttons as prompted to escape enemies that have triggered the cinematic sequences. The further into the game players get more weapons become available plus more and more items from the surroundings can be used - however overuse of items causes them to break and wear down which could leave players unarmed at crucial moments.
