On a man a little facial stubble can be extremely attractive, however for those of us of the female persuasion it is somewhat less so. Therefore in the name of beauty we are willing to put ourselves through the hell of facial hair removal.
There are, as I'm sure you realise a plenitude of products available for just this purpose, from bleaching creams to wax strips. I, however, have very sensitive skin and find most products irritate and burn. Having used and been impressed with the SilkyMit Hair Removing Gloves, I thought the facial hair removers in the same range would be perfect.

There are three products in the Silkymit range:
SilkyMit hair removal gloves for legs SilkyMit hair removal pads for your face SilkyMit 3 in 1 lotion (which claims to moisturise, soothe and reduce hair growth).
Obviously in this review I will be focussing on the hair removal pads for the face.

* * * * * * * * *
The pads are presented within a blister pack, which shows a picture of a woman using the pads on the front, and the usage instructions on the back. Again, it is not a very exciting package and quite easy to miss among the more well presented hair removal products.

Supplied within the package in an applicator and four self adhesive hair removing pads. The applicator is oblong and about two inches in length and pink in colour. The pads have a self adhesive backing, and need to be stuck to the applicator before use. They are pink in colour and have the texture of very fine emery paper.

The pads should be used when your face is clean and dry. After attaching a pad to the applicator you should then rub the “hairy areas” in a circular motion, applying gentle pressure. You will then be literally sanding the hair from your face.I have tried these pads a few times, and find that they are very awkward to use and it takes a great deal more than gentle pressure to get any hair removal.

When used exactly as directed, I found these did not work at all, and caused slight irritation. When I used a little extra pressure, the hair was removed, but my face turned bright red and felt like it was on fire. So I would say the results were altogether disappointing.
* * * * * * * * * The Benefits
* * * * * * * * *
1.As well as removing hair, these pads will exfoliate the skin. 2.No messy creams or wax. 3.No dangerous chemicals for the children to get hold of.
* * * * * * * * * * The Downside
* * * * * * * * * *
1.Awkward to use. 2.For me they did not work 3.An unsightly rash

Although these pads have been available in the UK since 2002, they are not widely available, but I have found them in a shop called “Savers” which specialises in selling toiletries at a reasonable price.The current price for the pads is £2.99 for the applicator and four pads.

After having used, and raved about, the SilkyMit hair removal gloves, these pads were a great disappointment and I cannot recommend them. Although reasonably priced, they with all honesty did not work, and left my face with a rash that lasted the rest of the day. So the hunt is still on for an irritation free facial hair remover.
Advantages: Leaves skin soft and smooth Disadvantages: Takes skin off if you rub too hard
I have tried almost every facial hair removal product there is, as well as bleach (I found you could still see my facial hair but it was just lighter) and find that most hair removal creams really burn and irritate my skin if left on long enough to remove hair, or didn't work at all if I left them on for less time in the hope of saving my poor skin. The silkymitt facial hair remover looked a totally different take on hair removal, no chemicals or ... ...for around £2.89, about right for what I want to pay for a product such as this. The product itself looks like a mini nail buffer with very fine sandpaper attatched, the idea being that you gently buff away hair using circular motions. I used this when my face was free from makeup and lotions, and found it to be very effective leaving my skin soft and smooth. However, after a couple of minutes I could feel a burning sensation on my top lip, which ...

Advantages: no more moustache! Disadvantages: stupid holder , too harsh when new.
After reading the previous 2 review , i have to comment - as this product is fantastc -only If you get the hang of how to use it. So heres my tips
Firstly - dont bother with the 'holder ', as it makes it tricky to angle and by peeling the backing off the glue can get on your face , and this can cause irritation .
FOLD the strip in half to get a more accurate shape and angle to do the upper lip area. -- this also enables you to hold the strip and ... ...if you are pressing too hard .
If using it the first time on long hair , trim hair first , then skin will take less friction.
Irritation is less if you use a 'worn in' strip - eg - do your knees with it first! It is great for this area and causes less irritation than the body mitt for legs made by the same company.
Put cold water on skin first , and pat skin dry before using the silkymitt. Never use after a hot bath, and DONT RUB TOO HARD, be ...

Advantages: short-term hair removal Disadvantages: can irritate the skin if product is rubbed too hard or frequently, leaving skin feeling delicate.
...hair free. Unlike waxing, the SilkyMit does not reduce hair growth or slow growing down but it will temporarily at least, get rid of unsightly facial hair.
Simply use the SilkyMit every day on the hairy are, rubbing clockwise first, then anti-clockwise, to sand the hair down. There is no need to rub too hard as this can lead to sensitivity and tenderness in the effected area. Gentle rubbing in both directions should work just as well and will last ...
