Advantages: ????? I didn't have to pay for it. Disadvantages: errors
I'm always a bit sceptical of books that get hyped a lot and this was no exception. So rather than buy the thing I decided I would read it in stages in bookshops. To be honest I am glad I didn't buy it.
It never ceases to amaze me that historians can get such basics facts wrong about their nearest neighbours and still be lauded.
When I read through this book I of course looked at the maps. I was fascinated to discover the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms that the Vikings had attacked and ransacked. Some of them were apparently in Ireland.
This was the first I had heard of this. The reason being that it isn't true. There weren't Anglo-Saxon kingdoms in Ireland Simon. The first colonies set up by the English were courtesy of the Normans. While they may have been descended from the Vikings, thus giving a tenuous link to this error, there ...

My wife read it and said: "You should read this book (Neverland) by Simon Crump, it's got a very black sense of humour. You'll enjoy it."

Neverland by Simon Crump. It's a very novel Novel. Is it a collection of interlinked short stories, as some people believe? Yes. Well, no. Not, quite. It's more a collection of interlinked ideas, instead.
By the way, the dead hamster unicorn featured in the novel? I'm not entirely certainly it was. Dead, that is.
Simon Crump takes several different ideas and places them in a very unique and out of place context. You can imagine Michael Jackson and Uri Geller together. PLOT -
The story is set 8 years after the Nakatomi incident and a peaceful New York morning is shattered as a bomb goes off in a department store causing havoc amongst the public and police.
