Now this is a review on a product I'm sure many of you Ciao ladies can understand- we all have a need for a really good make up remover, one that won't leave us with mascara panda eyes the next day, or leave our faces looking red raw from scrubbing with something that isn't kind to the skin in order to get off that concealer, or the stubborn mascara. I think I've found one of the best forms of removing make up, as well as cleansing the skin and leaving a clean, refreshed feeling.
Enter the Cleansing Facial Wipes from the people at Simple! I tried to go on the website www.keep-life-simple.com to find out more information for you all, but unfortunately for some reason the site wouldn't load! But anyway, this pack of facial wipes costs around the £2.50 mark, but the shop Savers often has them on a BOGOF offer or 2 for £3 or something. You can buy them from most shops like Tesco or Boots. I think they're fairly
reasonably priced, maybe a little on the steep side, but they are very good quality, and I'm not really sure how much the average cleansing wipe costs!
First thing to comment, on the packaging. The packaging is quite easy to notice in the shops; the packet is a pale green and white design, reminds me of cucumbers! The green and white Simple logo will be familiar because the company produces a lot of facial products, so I was confident I was getting a good product when I started trying these wipes. The plastic packet which holds 25 wipes says that they're 100% oil and alcohol free, with no colouring and no perfume. So the wipes are good for those with sensitive skin.
The packet is easy as pie to open. On the front there is a big white lid/flap and on the right of it there is a tab that kindly tells you to 'open here'. Peeling the lid back reveals a little opening in the packet itself, and you just need to reach 2 fingers in, grab a wipe by the edges and pull it out. It's not like a tissue box where another wipe comes half way up ready for next use, there's no faffing about at all! The lid is sticky on one side, so all you need to do is simply reseal the packet ready for next use. However, this is where the downside in the product comes in. after repeated use, the sticky lid loses its stickiness, and right now, my pack doesn't seal at all which means every time I want to get a new wipe out, it's already partially dry. This means that it's necessary to store your pack either upside down so the weight of it keeps the lid sealed, or put something heavy on it! It's not a major grievance, but it can get annoying when you want to take your make up off and you have a dry wipe!
Ok, so back to the wipe itself. When you take a fresh white wipe out (which hasn't dried out!) the first thing you notice is that it's cool and moist, which really makes it good to use on your face. The wipe glides across the skin easily and gently. The wipe themselves have no rough pores or anything, so they really are kind to your skin. They leave my skin feeling really refreshed and clean, and are nice and cooling- so it's always a good idea to have these on you if you're going on a long hot journey. My skin is also left feeling very smooth, and apparently, each wipe 'quickly cleanses, tones and refreshes without drying, leaving your skin feeling clean and soft'. So we have some very truthful packaging here people! Like I said, my skin definitely did get left feeling clean and soft.
And another important factor of these wipes- do they remove make up? Well, they're not like the adverts where you see the models do one sweep over their face and all make up is instantly removed, but these wipes are definitely good at removing the normal woman's make up! Concealer, blusher and lipstick are definitely no problem. Eye shadow and eyeliner are also not a problem; the wipes are very kind to the eyes. I once accidentally got some moisture from the wipe in my eye when taking off some eyeliner, and it didn't sting at all! Mascara removing does take a bit of time to remove, especially waterproof mascara!! It takes quite a bit of eye wiping to remove every single trace of mascara, but again, it doesn't irritate my eyes or hurt, which is great!
The wipes are also great if you've come in from a heavy night out (ladies) and have collapsed in bed without taking off your make up, and you wake up with the panda eyes… The wipes will get rid of all that cloggy build up under your eyes, and will help to make you feel refreshed and woken up, and help to reduce the rough look by cleansing the skin under your eyes- no puffiness!! They also even remove fancy dress make up, like glitter and shimmer powders. I wonder if there is anything these wipes can't remove?
I would definitely recommend these to anyone, they live up to their expectations when you read the packet, and never let me down. Also the packet is so handy to use when travelling- no need for creams and cotton wool pads!

It really bugs me that the flaps on most face wipes loose their stickiness! You'd have thought they'd bring out a better way or re-sealing the packs by now?
