This 100% soap free wash claims to be free of any perfume, unnecessary additives and colourings. It comes in a simple white tube with a hook lid so it can be hung up, if you prefer. Unlike other shower gels with flip tops, you have to actually pull off the lid and squirt the shower gel into your hand - a bit fiddly if you're normally blinded by shampoo running into your eyes, like I am, but you get used to it!

Normally I count myself lucky because my eczema is quite mild and can be controlled with E45 and Neutrogena, but lately it's been steadily getting worse and worse. At the moment, my skin looks terrible - it's dry and flaky, with scabby sores on my inner arms and the back of my knees from where I've scratched. Not nice, not to mention horrendous-looking!
I'd been ignoring the problem for a while, but when I absently rubbed my tummy and a snowstorm of flakes showered onto my black trousers, I knew I needed to sort it out - cue a trip to my local Boots! My skin looked vile and I bought a whole heap of shower gels, body lotions and exfoliators, in the hope of clearing it up, but Simple Nourishing Body Wash is the only shower gel I've found to be of any help at all!

It promises to nourish, condition and moisturise even the driest of skins, which is a pretty big claim! Included in the ingredients are chamomile extract and Vitamins E and B5 (panthenol) which is an an anti-inflammatory agent. It doesn't contain any mineral oil (parrafinum liquidum), commonly found in bath and body products, either, which I am allergic to.

Unlike other shower gels with flip tops, you have to actually pull off the lid and squirt the shower gel into your hand - a bit fiddly if you're normally blinded by shampoo running into your eyes, like I am, but you get used to it!
I normally pour a dollop of the thick, milky white cream into my hand and rub it in over the problem areas, letting it wash over the rest of my body. It doesn't foam up as much as other shower gels but apparently the lather in shower gels is just for show, and is unnecessary, so I can't complain! Although it is perfume-free, it has that distinctive Simple smell - very soapy and clean, although subtle and inoffensive.
Other products leave me feeling refreshed and really clean, but Simple doesn't, to be honest! To be fair, it didn't irritate or sting my skin, and does a fantastic job! The first time I used this, I got out of the shower and waited for the itchiness to kick in - it didn't! My skin still felt mildly uncomfortable and slightly rough, but much less so than usual. As I continued to use it, the benefits started to show through - the dryness slowly began to fade, as did the red sore patches.
I've been using it for over a week now, and although my eczema is still there and there are still some stubborn patches, Simple has definitely helped to clear some of it up. I'm hoping that with continued use, it'll eventually get rid of all the manky skin and keep the dryness at bay. Already my skin's starting to feel a lot softer and smoother, and I don't need as much body lotion anymore. I had a really sore spot around my underarm which meant I couldn't put any deodorant on it, as it stung like hell, but I've just put some on now and there isn't any pain whatsoever!
If my skin were normal and I didn't have eczema, I'd probably not use this because I prefer more scented, attractive products (even though they're probably the stuff that triggered my eczema!) but it's a good, no-nonsense product that does what it says, and I'm happy to stick with it! The RRP is £2.99, but I've seen it in my local Bodycare for a bargain price of £1.29!
There are other products in the range at similar prices - I've seen an Exfoliating and Refreshing Body Washes and a Bath Foam, so it's definitely worth a go if you have dry skin! Definitely recommended.
Advantages: Soap Free, Dermatologically Approved Disadvantages: None I can think of
The Simple range has been around forever. I remember using their soap as a kid and when I first started using cleanser, toner and moisturiser this was the brand my mum picked up for me. I suffer from Excema and I have had this all my life. When I was younger I was always the typical scabby kid who had open cuts where I had scratched my excema and to add insult to injury I had to wash with special soap substitutes, I couldn’t use shower gel and could ... ...Tesco my mum saw the Simple Nourishing Body Wash and bought some for me. It claims to be 100% soap free, not coloured or perfumed and dermatologically approved. I decided to try it for a week and see how I got on. That was nearly two years ago and it’s all I use now.
The bottle is found in the shower gel aisle of all major chemists and supermarkets and is a clear see through bottle containing 250ml. They as far as I know only do the one size. The ...

Advantages: Gentle on my baby soft skin Disadvantages: Does not leave me smelling gorgeous
...I have been using Simple Nourishing Body Wash for a while. It is 'not perfumed, not coloured, just kind' as per the Joanna Lumley adverts of a few years back with the spray cans of paint onto white lilies - sacrelege but it made the point!
I usually buy it in the supermarket, about £2.20 for 250 mls, but it can be purchased either side of this price at other outlets. Superdrug sometimes do offers which bring the price right down.
The marketing ... ...indulge my skin. I am all for that. It also makes a claim of 'Smooth' but I think that is a bit subjective in my case. Or maybe it is a verb?
There is a long list of ingredients, but I have to admit, I can't read them as the writing is too small and I have reached a certain age where my arms need to be a little longer. On squinting, I cannot see any words that look like Lanolin, so if you are allergic to that, you should be ok using this product. ...

Advantages: Not perfumed, not coloured Disadvantages: Not lathery, not for a perfumed wash.
...However, with the Simple range I can use any of their products knowing that my skin will not react. They are ‘not perfumed, not coloured, just kind’. I have remembered this from my childhood, when my mum would always use Simple cleanser to wipe off her make up every night. I remember thinking, ‘why doesn’t it smell?’ but also thinking that it was good in doing so.
Anyway, I bought this Simple Nourishing Body Wash because it was half price in Superdrug ... ...twice as much normally, but I think this differs depending on where you buy it. I have seen it for over two pounds in some places, and less in others. Shop around, is my advice. The familiar white, pearly-looking crème was appetizing, and, knowing that I wouldn’t have a reaction to it, I was happy to begin using the product. I first used it without any scrub or sponge, but found that it did not seem to lather up that well. So I turned to my trusty ...

Advantages: Gorgeously smooth, silky soft skin Disadvantages: Perseverence to get the benefits
I have had problems with very sensitive and dry skin, especially around the typical 'elbow' patch and had tried many other 'moisterising' brands with little or no effect.
I had seen Simple advertised, but to be honest, I didn't try it until I was bought a bottle while confined in hospital. It was quite strange to use at first, because although it was a luxurious liquid, there really was absolutely no smell!
I didn?t notice any difference at all until 5-6 days later, when I found that my skin had become beautifully silky soft: Even those stubborn elbow patches had submitted and were smooth and conditioned!!
I have to be honest, if I had not been in hospital, I think I would have given up using the product after a few days. Persevering with it really did make a dramatic difference to my skin and I also noticed an added benefit ...

Advantages: A good quality body wash from Johnsons. Disadvantages: Lacks fragrance
I am sure that most of us try to keep our skin soft, supple and well hydrated and as time goes by this becomes quite a challenge.
During my teenage years my skin was greasy and it stayed fairly oily until I reached my forties, then it seemed to undergo some startling changes. My once oily skin was beginning to look dry and in need of nourishment and this was when I started to look for bath or shower products that would rejuvenate my skin and make it look as fresh as it could.
I have tried countless bodywashes, some I get along well with and some get stuffed into the drawer after one wash.
I have to say that I am a fan of the Dove Pro Age range and also the SimpleNourishingbodywash.
One of the downsides of bodywashes has to be the price tag, I find that they seem to average about £3 a bottle. Granted the contents ...

Suitability and Warnings
Simple products are formulated using no added perfume or colour, and are dermatologically tested and approved. They claim to be Experts in sensitive skin, so in theory people with sensitive skin shouldn't have to worry about using their products, but do be aware that just because something is 'dermatologically tested' , 'hypoallergenic', or 'formulated for sensitive skin', this doesn't mean you CAN'T be allergic to it. I'm a prime ...
