You will need
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Playstation 2 (essential), a TV (essential), some friends (optional), alcohol (optional), and a venue where it doesn't matter how loud you are. (it best as loud as possible - it helps when you can't hear yourself sing)
What do you get?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To begin with you need to buy a Singstar game, which includes two microphones. The pack will included two microphones, a little black box with a little USB lead on it, and the game its about £30-40. You can purchase additional games without the microphones for £15-20. The microphones are a really good quality - mine have been swung around (drunkenly) loads and still work perfectly.

Set it up
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It really easy to set up - I can do it! All you do is plug the two microphones into the black box (you can't go wrong its colour coded) then plug the USB lead on the little black box into the Playstation. Put the game into Playstation. Your ready to sing.
You can also connect an eye toy to it, if you wish
Game Play
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can sing solo, duet or compete against each other
You can enter a name for each player so that your scores are saved on the score board (memory card required)
You select the track you wish to sing.
Select normal or a shortened version of your song
The microphones are colour coded and as long as you have plugged them in correctly the red microphone matches the red on the screen.
On the screen will appear the words and the notes. When you sing in tune and at the correct time you will score points.
If you are not in tune, where you are actually singing (in relation to the notes) will appear on the screen, so that you adjust your voice.
The game cannot tell if your singing the right words so you can hum and still score the points - but where is the fun in that.
At the end of the song it scores you and gives you a rating e.g. tone deaf, hit artist, totally Singstar.
At the end of the song you can choose to listen to your efforts - (warning it will sound awful however well your scored)
You can play up to eight players.

Different features in Singstar 80's
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They is a pong type game - where you control the paddles by the pitch of your voice - its quite fun for a few mins. Its not as good as the career mode as in the original Singstar
Run DMC's It's Tricky and Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby use the Singstar rap meter - its quite difficult - but I can't rap and I am not a big fan of either of the tracks.
Singstar v's Karaoke
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Singstar is much more than Karaoke. You sing along to the song, the words and notes appear on the screen. In the background plays the actual video (unlike Karaoke) You are scored hitting the notes and holding them for long enough. It displays what note you are singing and where you should be.
As well as appealing to everyone who likes Karaoke - Singstar appeals to anyone with a competitive streak. Because you are concentrating on scouring points rather than sounding good. Its really surprising how many more people will have a bottle to give it ago - who would never dream of doing Karaoke.
This game is ideal for a party of mixed ages. with classics like Our House and Like a Virgin whatever age everyone will know a few song.
