I bought this game game (with the microphones) at Christmas last year and played it with my future Mother In Law (!) after a bottle of wine. Have since played it lots on my own (not as fun) and took it to my parents' house this Christmas. The microphones come with a USB adapter that you plug into the front of your PS2 and you navigate using the usual PS2 controller.

The game has several game modes; Solo where you can sing on your own or part of a duet, or you can play in Party mode. You can sing together and try to rack up as many points as you can, you can compete against each other to see who gets the most points. There is also a Pass-The-Mic mode where there are 5 different types of game, you have to try and stay in the game.

The game works just like karaoke where the words are along the bottom of the screen and a bar shows you the notes you need to hit. You get bonuses for getting the whole line and "golden notes" which are sometimes tricky notes to get. The lines get coloured in as you sing and you can see whether you are hitting the right note. In the top left hand corner you have a performance meter as well as your score, if it's green you are doing well, then it goes down to yellow and red. For each line you sing you are graded Good, Cool, OK, and awful!

You don't have to sing all the words while you are learning the songs as it only picks up the notes that you sing, and you can also sing an octave higher or lower if that's more comfortable. The songs are accompanied with the original music videos but if you have an EYE TOY you can replace that with a video of yourself singing! After you've finished you can playback your performance and mess about with your vocals with some snazzy effects.

There are 3 levels; easy, medium and hard. They vary as to how strict they are counting notes you sing as in tune or way off!

Tracklisting:
Alice Cooper, Poison
Belinda Carlisle, Heaven Is A Place On Earth
Billy Joel, Uptown Girl
Blondie, Atomic
Culture Club, Karma Chameleon
Dexy's Midnight Runners, Come On Eileen
Dolly Parton, Nine To Five
Duran Duran, Rio
Erasure, A Little Respect
Europe, The Final Countdown
Fairground Attraction, Perfect
Foreigner, I Want To Know What Love Is
Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Power Of Love
Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill
Katrina And The Waves, Walking On Sunshine
Madness, Our House
Madonna, Material Girl
Marillion, Kayleigh
Nena, 99 Red Balloons
Run DMC, It's Tricky
Simple Minds, Don't You
Soft Cell, Tainted Love
Starship, We Built This City
Survivor, Eye Of The Tiger
Tears For Fears, Everybody Wants To Rule The World
The Cure, Just Like Heaven
The Pretenders, Brass In Pocket
Tina Turner, Simply The Best
Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby
Wham!, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

Plus some medleys where different songs are "stuck together"

I got my highest scores on Heaven is a Place on Earth (very proud of that one) and Material Girl. We had good fun on Christmas Day when myself and my fiancé did Ice Ice Baby. Yeah bwooooyyyy! This (along with Run DMC- It's Tricky) uses a rap meter that measures whether you are rapping in time rather than hitting the right notes.

The first of many!

Sounds like fun but I would only do it if there was no-one there to hear me!!

Sounds like great fun after a bottle of wine or a few voddies in my case, unfortunately we don't have a PS2, just the bog-standard karaoke which no doubt will be taken out on Saturday when my sister is having her good time January blues do at hers!! Great review, must ask my teenage nephews for their PS2. How did your future ma-in-law cope with it last Christmas?? Great review :-))
