For those who have not played the Singstar series of games on the PS2 games console this is probably one of the greatest money spinners that Sony have come up with in years.
A cross between Karaoke and X Factor this is more fun than you can shake a stick at. To play the game you require a microphone preferably 2 for multi player and as an added extra although not absolutely necessary a Eye Toy camera which are both attached to the PS2 through USB.
The aim of the game is to choose your track from the list of 30 songs supplied on the disc then sing along to the words as they appear on the screen but beware you are judged by the computer which recognizes how good your pitch tone and rhythm is. There is also the option to have yourself displayed in the pop video should you have a Eye Toy camera this is a great add on and makes it even funnier for those having the luxury of sitting back and watching. My kids have had many an hour laughing at my expense but what the hell we all think we are good don't we.
On screen whilst playing your selected track is a backing video with the star singing and the words light up at the right time for easy guidance, there are also tone bar's which give you a good idea of how high or low you have to go vocally.
You can also play in Party mode so set up groups and compete against each other to see who is the best, a great add on is the MC section where you can Rap away to your hearts content to earn extra points for your team. (not been brave enough to even attempt yet my 12 year old good though lol)
You can also sing medleys which take the best clips of the best songs and mix them all into one this really does put your vocal skills to the test but its all good fun. Even my 2 year old stands up and tries to sing his heart out its so cute wish I could record the screen.
Another great feature to Popworld is the playback and voice enhances so even if you are really bad just play it back and use the voice enhancing and it actually sounds like you can sing. If you have someone in the group that thinks they are really good just use the playback and voice distorter they will be baffled loll.
On the downside it does have limited last ability as its best played in groups and you do eventually get bored with the same tracks this game gives you hours of fun however and there are many other titles available which I will list at the end of my review.

As you can see some great tracks a mixture of old and new but mainly all songs we can all relate to great for adults and children alike and like I say even my 2 year old enjoys this very hard to turn it off once he has the mic in his hand.
The following titles are also available in the Singstar series once you have grown tired of playing PopWorld.
Legends, Anthems, Rocks, 80s, Party and the original Singstar but this is dated now compared to the newer releases.
I do hope this review has shown just how great this game is and at only £17.99 at gameplay without mics or £29.99 with mics you really should give it a try.
