Advantages Advantages Refreshing, innovative "flickit" controls, sense of achievement, fantastic online community.

Disadvantages Disadvantages several glitches, occasionally drops frames (especially in online play).

The current market The Tony Hawks Skateboarding games have up until now been the only skate games on the market. So when EA announced they would be releasing there own skateboarding game with a completely redesigned control system, the hype was incredible. Skateboarders worldwide had never been offered anything more than the quirky, often unrealistic game play of Tony Hawks, however EA Skate. was set to put that right. How Skate. stacks up The Question is... did it achieve its goal? The answer is most definately yes. Completely redesigning the typical Skateboard controls of Tony Hawk, EA got ... more

Advantages Advantages Unique and fun controls - Great graphics - Able to upload footage - Replay value

Disadvantages Disadvantages Frame rate issues - Not the best Multiplayer - Long loading times

This is a great game, in this review I will look into the main aspects of the game. I own the game on the Playstation 3 so I will be basing my review on that version but I am sure it is very similar on the XBOX 360. I hope you enjoy my review. Story: The story starts with a short video clip of you skating when suddenly you get hit by a bus. You are taken to hospital and you are so "messed up" you have to get plastic surgery. This is where you are able to customize your characters looks from body weight to hair style. You are then thrown into the action with a short tutorial to help you learn ... more

It only been one year since Skate 2 came out but here we are with Skate 3. The franchise was breath of fresh air when it first hit the scene it was a major change from the high flying apex of the Tony Hawks series it was a much more realistic take on skate boarding with a nicely tuned, reimagined control scheme. For the third game developer BlackBox has added brand new online modes specially focusing on team play but is this enough to keep the formula fresh? Or is this quick cash in on a popular franchise? Presentation The first thing you’ll notice about skate 3 is it looks a lot like skate 2; ... more

Advantages Advantages New controls help game feel more realistic. Completing tasks feels like a real achievement.

Disadvantages Disadvantages May take a while to get used to controls. Also not lots of different gameplay options.

Skate, the newest skateboarding game with the most original control system yet, has finally hit the streets. Although I own it for Ps3, this game is also available on xbox 360 and PC. I must admit, this game has brought new levels of excitement to a genre is beginning to get old in terms of gaming. Finally we have a game that uses the strength of a dual controller to control your two feet on the skateboard, rather the unrealistic, button-bashing approach recognised in the Tony Hawk series. When you start the game you can navigate your way easily through the menus, a good start to any game. If ... more

Advantages Advantages Really well thought-out learning curve, great fun to play

Disadvantages Disadvantages Controls are sometimes a little tricky

This game came free with my PS3 a year or so ago, and I didn’t expect too much from it – it was the pick of what looked like a bad bunch, the sort of ne’er-do-wells and over-hyped flops that are usually given away in console bundles. As it turned out, I was pleasantly surprised, and while I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the best game I own, it is without doubt the one that has occupied the most of my time. Skate takes a different approach to the Tony Hawk games that I’d experienced before on my old PS2. Instead of accruing ‘skill points’ as you progress through the game, allowing your player ... more
