Individual style combined with physics-driven animations promise that no two tricks will ever be the same. And there\'s plenty of room to pull off those tricks - San Vanelona challenges you to explore, find, and own the best spots. You can even capture footage to create and show off your style with friends across the world - because without footage, it\'s fiction.

Much prefer the farfetched gameplay of Tony Hawk
Review of Skate (Xbox 360) by Ruudboyashley

Advantages: Realistic, excellent graphics, customisation
Disadvantages: Complex controls, camera angle, bails looks silly, can't get off board

Skate is described as being the closest thing to skating without putting your feet on the board. This may be the case but the game certainly reflects the complexity of skating. A revolutionary controlling system has made it one of the hardest games to pick up and play. I was constantly trying to get used to the new controlling system, following the tutorial, but its so complex that it puts you off the whole package. I'll start with the problems: ...
...to grind, you have to skate in at the right angle and ollie at the right moment, something which is quite hard to do. Manuals are even harder than grinds. You need to push the right analog stick up or down to the "right spot" to initiate a manual. This becomes even more complicated when you try to manual after a trick. I kept trying to play the game to see if I could get used to the controls but it was so frustrating and put me off. - There is ... Read review

Skate (xbox360)
Review of Skate (Xbox 360) by RicME85

Advantages: Fresh take on an old genre
Disadvantages: May be harder for some players

...that "nollie kickflip". Graphically Skate has the usual polish that we have come to expect from Electronic Arts over the years. Another addition to the game to set it aside from its rivals is the camera view. Its set down low with the premise that you are being filmed by one of your mates. Unlike the Tony Hawks series where you find randomly placed ramps and things to Skate has a very well built town for you to enjoy. Any ramps and pipes are there ...
...you something to do. Skate Features: • Flickit: The days of button mashing are over. Skate's intuitive Flickit dual analog control lets Skate players perform skill-based trick executions that capture the real-world feel and true attitude of skating. • Define Your Skate Style: - Create your own style and skater personality with animation and skating physics that give you the freedom to decide how your skater looks, feels and rides. Skate
Review of Skate (Xbox 360) by PunksNotDead128

Advantages: Realistic, Stunning graphics, Fun, Great Re playability
Disadvantages: Numerous glitches

...of the street however, on skate there are realistic stair sets, ledges, handrails etc. The use of video replay is good and online play is fantastic. The story challenges are fun and the idea of getting sponsered and joining teams builds on THUG1 in a much more effective way. Other things such as customisation and injuries make the game more interesting as it adds more to the overall experience. The only downfall are the numerous glitches, most ...
...points so there is little left to do. There are a few missing features which could improve the game such as being able to get off of your board as navigation can at times be frustrating. Dont be put off by its difficulty, when you get better with practice you will fully appreciate its realism and advantages over 'Tony Hawks'. This aside, i would recommend it to anyone whos looking for a groundbreaking, 'pick-up-and-play', game that will not get ... Read review

Review of Skate (Xbox 360) by Gemma94

Advantages: Outstanding Graphics, Great Value
Disadvantages: Sometimes Gets Quite Hard

I bought this game along with disneys 'cars' at the GAME sale. This is by far the BEST game i have so far on my xbox 360. The achievments are hard to obtain, but its a very good game and worth the money. It is thoughly enjoyable and very addictive, if you cant complete one challenge, try another! The graphics are AMAZING, really, fantastic. It is a difficult game, but it helps you learn the controls by offering a simple to follow tutorial and easy ... Read review
