Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI DSG Elegance
Advantages: Features, Value for Money. Disadvantages: None
The automatic 1.9TDi DSG Elegance has loads of power and a fun gearbox The automatic is definitely the right choice, especially for those of you like me who have steadfastly stuck to manual vehicles in the past. This gearbox is a technological advancement which allows semi-automatic and sports modes in addition to the normal automatic gearbox. This allows you to have a fun sporty drive along country lanes or an effortless cruise along the motorway, ... ...hassle of gear change becomes a thing of the past. I was also thinking "diesel automatic? " but this is a revelation, because the smoothness of gear change combined with the 105 bhp provdes a smooth ride and bracing acceleration. It can easily do 0-60 in 12 seconds, the manual says 10.8, but I guess I am no F1 driver! It comes well equipped, as you would expect on this top end model. The cruise control, trip computer and 6CD multi-changer are all ...

My car
Advantages: Great for towns Disadvantages: High fuel consumption, underpowered on some version
Well, what can i say about this car? First of all, great for busy towns. It' s pretty slim and you easily squeeze trough. Second, the looks on this version are better than the newer one, the handling is great, the suspensions do their work. A main feature is that in spite of a fragile look is pretty resistant to bumps. For those of you who like speed i recommend a TDI engine not only because of the extra horse power but also because the car can prove ...

Skoda Fabia 1.9tdi estate
Advantages: Price, economical, comfortable, fast acceleration, vast storage space Disadvantages: None
I bought my first Skoda 5 years ago when I retired from my full time occupation. I had intended to buy a decent second hand model but on visiting the dealer, I was so impressed with the estate version of the 1.9tdi Fabia, that I took the plunge.
Having since had 100% reliability, economical fuel consumption , the added bonus of quick off the mark acceleration for an exceptionally value for money price, I am glad I took the plunge as I have not regretted ... ...the car.
Without doubt Skoda have come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years and not only am I proud to own one, I also have a smile to myself at the badge snobs with their Volkswagen who are paying a few thousand more for more or less the same vehicle as I have but with a different badge and perhaps a little different shape.
I am now wishing the next six months or so away for the launch of the new Fabia 1.9tdi estate in the new year which ...

Skoda felicia is low cost & reliable, great for first car
Advantages: Spacious, reliable, cheap to run, low insurance Disadvantages: Parts tend to rust
I have owned my Skoda Felicia 1.3 LXi Plus since I was 18 and I am now nearly 23. I love my car, it has been very reliable and very easy to work on as well. The only downside is rust, but then again I had a few bumps in it, so that didn't help. It is a little noisy but with my music on, it fades away into the background. It is quite nippy to say thats its only a 1.3. It is in a low insurance band (Group 5 I think), which makes it perfect for a first ... ...most I think I have got from it is around 38 mpg. Parts are relatively cheap to buy and can be easily fitted yourself with a Haynes manual. For a small car, the interior is quite spacious and as I am at uni, it is perfect for transporting my things from home. One of the main problems that is a common fault with most felicias is that the suspension cups tend to rust, so they require checking but I have only had to change mine once, as it was the originals ...

CzechMate!
Advantages: Comfort, Performance and Economy. This great car is a pleasure to own and drive Disadvantages: Minor niggle is no radio controls on the steering wheel
...sees both me and my Skoda Octavia enjoying a golden jubilee! I neither mean to imply that I bought it the year of my birth nor my car has lasted 50 years. But on January the 6th 1959, the Czech car manufacturer Skoda introduced its newest car model to replace the Skoda 440, also known as 'Spartak'. Reported in their company magazine Ventil, they announced "Our new vehicle has a new name too - the Skoda Octavia, as it is the eighth model produced ... ...to be developed 1989 after Skoda became part of VW. The first concept car was created in 1992 and was finally launched in 1996 as a hatchback followed by the estate version and 4-by-4 two years later. In 2000 a new, modernised Skoda Octavia was introduced that is still manufactured in Mlada Boleslav to this day as the Octavia Tour. The new Skoda Octavia, was launched in 2004 then facelifted in 2008. More than two million have been produced and boasts ...
