How long will it be before those I rate regularly, who could but don't return on my older reviews, realise I have stopped rating their new reviews? The blunt Yorkshireman has entered the building, the gent has left!

I bought my first Skoda 5 years ago when I retired from my full time occupation. I had intended to buy a decent second hand model but on visiting the dealer, I was so impressed with the estate version of the 1.9tdi Fabia, that I took the plunge.
Having since had 100% reliability, economical fuel consumption , the added bonus of quick off the mark acceleration for an exceptionally value for money price, I am glad I took the plunge as I have not regretted my choice of car.
Capacious boot space that takes all my golf clubs, trolley and more without having to lower the rear seats is also something to appreciate.
I traded that in 3 years ago for the same model but with added extras such as cd player, air con, alloy wheels at what appeared to be very little price difference from the first one I bought.
The ability to gain quick acceleraration ( without the screeching of tyres ! ) is a marvellous advantage for me, when driving in town areas, particularly at busy roundabouts. What used to be ' a can I or can't I make it ' decision no longer prevails. This fast transfer of propulsion is also excellent for journeys off the motorway, especially, ( sorry about this caravanners ), when behind the jokingly known, weekend gypsy. The ability to utilise the turbo injection allows a safe overtaking manouevre which alleviates the frustration of many a driver, more so, on the road to the coast for a day out.
Very economcal, I get an average of around 50 miles to the gallon, ( metric is not my forte ) around town and up to 60 on motorways/ out of town. I hate the figures they quote in car brochures, every driver is different and therefore, so will the result of their own mpg that they achieve.
Comfort is not a problem, the drivers seat is adjustable both horizontally as well as verically, plus a positional adjustable steering wheel. Easy to see instrument panel with a dimmer lighting system for brightness coupled with height adjustable headlights, depending on the load of the car.
Without doubt Skoda have come on in leaps and bounds over the past few years and not only am I proud to own one, I also have a smile to myself at the badge snobs with their Volkswagen who are paying a few thousand more for more or less the same vehicle as I have but with a different badge and perhaps a little different shape.
I am now wishing the next six months or so away for the launch of the new Fabia 1.9tdi estate in the new year which if the new Fabia hatchback recently launched is anything to go by, then the new model will be even better.
Just like the cake they made for their advert, what an unforgetable one that is!, their cars are also very ' tasty ' , not only in looks, but to drive. I believe they are the only company with all their models consistently rated in the top ten vehicles in What Car. That says evrything about Skoda, as I have found from experience.

It's a Skoda, trust me !
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
I just have to echo Lexy's comment about how improved Skoda have become over recent years . . . and from the mileage/p/g figures you quote, I'm not surprised at your satisfaction with it

They've come on such a lot in recent years. They used to be such a joke when I was a teenager, but since VW took them over, they're kind of reworked their image. L PS I can't think how I missed this review - anyway rated now!
Advantages: a comfortable, economic,, straightforward car Disadvantages: had a problem when the electric window failed a few months ago. it stopped working when the window was completly down!!
Advantages: Great fuel economey and great price Disadvantages: scoshers blow fuse in winter if bottle freezes need to put a lot of anti freeze in there
