...set of a town called Slawter may stir up horrible memories for Grubbs and Bill-E.
I really don't know what to make of this book. I think the fact that I had to try my best to remember what happened in the first book (Lord Loss). I was hoping to read the blurb of Lord Loss, but that's kind of really hard to do if you've already passed it on to a friend. So I tried my best to remember the storyline, and although I couldn't remember it ... ...the problem with this series altogether, is the way in which you have to follow the characters. You want to read the first book then the second etc. all in order. And you can easily do that, but I reckon you'll have to do that one after the other and not do what I did which was read tonnes and tonnes of books in between the second and third books, if that has made any sense to you then that's good.
This book is the 3rd book in the Demonata series. I have just looked at my 2 reviews on the second and first books of this series, and I am surprised at how rubbish those reviews actually are. It just goes to show that I am actually improving on my reviews. I've been meaning to finish this series off, but Darren Shan keeps on making more and more books in the series, and I so cannot catch up. But I am trying.
I got this book, along with the next 2 books, from the scholastic catalogue. I got all 3 of them for only £6.99 which is well worth it considering each book is £5.99 in the shops. I always buy out of the catalogue as it is inevitably cheap and I just cannot refuse such a bargain.
Darren Shan is one of my all time favourite authors. I have to tell you that he is up there with Meg Cabot and Stephenie Meyer. However, I have recently noticed that his writing style is getting me less and less interested in reading his books, which is kind of weird. But I think the reason for this is that I'm growing older and although I've been a fan of his books for some time, I'm passing the age group for Darren Shan, and therefore making me not enjoying these books as much as I once would. Darren Shan has written many books, including 2 series (The Darren Shan Sega, which is going to be made into a film, and This Demonata Series), a world book day book (which was brilliant), and he has enrolled into adult fiction also. I have read all 12 books of The Darren Shan Sega, and I cannot wait to watch it on the big screen.
Now these books are kind of messed up (well in my opinion) as there is like 2 series enrolled into 1. The first book is all about somebody called Grubs Grady. Then the second book is all about someone entirely different, and the book is set in the past. Then this book comes back to the present, and follows Grubs Grady again. I have to admit it is like starting a new book altogether.
The plot is about both Grubbs and his uncle: Dervish. Dervish is having nightmares, and who can blame him? He's been stuck in the Demonata Universe, fighting Lord Loss. He has come out alive, meaning he won against Lord Loss. Then Dervish has the opportunity to take his mind off things as legendary director, Davida Haym, calls upon him for help. He takes it within seconds and quickly learns that it is a demonic film starring the Demonata. This may seem the perfect chance to get some freedom and lots and lots of fun. But being on the set of a town called Slawter may stir up horrible memories for Grubbs and Bill-E.
I really don't know what to make of this book. I think the fact that I had to try my best to remember what happened in the first book (Lord Loss). I was hoping to read the blurb of Lord Loss, but that's kind of really hard to do if you've already passed it on to a friend. So I tried my best to remember the storyline, and although I couldn't remember it perfectly, it was still there in my head. I think the problem with this series altogether, is the way in which you have to follow the characters. You want to read the first book then the second etc. all in order. And you can easily do that, but I reckon you'll have to do that one after the other and not do what I did which was read tonnes and tonnes of books in between the second and third books, if that has made any sense to you then that's good.
Darren Shan isn't too far behind R.L. Stine. They are nearly as scary as one another, however my idea of that has gone down the drain, I wasn't hooked into this book. The cover has no marks from where I've held really tight, and the reason for this is because I was NOT SCARED. I think the scariness has just deflated from his writing technique, and I am really hoping that his next few books will scare me, because I'll easily get bored with this series if it does terrify me.
The covers (in my opinion) are really good, because you can expose them to your lamp and then turn off the lamp and the eyes and teeth and hands (in this book's case) will glow in the dark. The best thing you can do with this, is show this to a little kid (like my brother) who screams their head off, it's so hilarious. Though this special part of this book does not beat the special part of Salem's tails (read my review to understand me).
I have to tell you that I haven't written a review lately because I didn't really want to write a review. I don't know whether it is to do with the whole idea of writing for this book, or if it's to do with a totally different aspect altogether. For all I know I could be totally bored writing book reviews, but I need to write them as I have 6 more to write and it’ll just bug me if I don't!
I hope you all have enjoyed reading this and I do hope you haven't read my reviews on the 2 preceding books, or if you have you will have to admit this one is a lot better than both of them put together. Thank you soooooooo much for reading, rating and commenting. Thank you!
Advantages: Everything possible from a literature perspective Disadvantages: Yellow is not my favourite colour lol
...Bec being the other Titles. Slawter is the third book in the series and rejoins us with our favourite hero, (Or at least mine) Grubbs Grady and his Denim wearing Uncle Dervish. In the first book Lord Loss these two fearlessly battled Lord Loss in order to save Bill-E Spleen's life.
This book for me was jam packed full of great stuff, really incredible. Dervish Grady having stayed to Battle Lord Loss in the Demonata universe has now returned, victorious. ... ...to make her newest movie; Slawter a huge hit. Swayed by Grubbs enthusiasm and a few other factors such as needing to get out of the house and wanting to keep Bill-E away from the lambs the trio depart for Slawter and one things for certain with atown name like that you can tell that theirlives will never be the same again, that is if they even have lives left to live at the end of this book. Once the group arrive at Slawter everything is fine, in ...

Advantages: One of Shan's best Disadvantages: Too childish for some.
This is the third book in the demonata sage. It however is the fourth chronologically. This is the direct sequel to the first book with Grubbs Grady retuning as the hero of the story! This series uses 3 protagonists that even though all will come to know each other in the earlier books they are separated by time. I would probably call Grubbs the main hero as it is he that features in not only the first book but the majority of the books from the ... ...total of 10!
At the end of the first book Grubbs has learnt many things. He knows there is a curse on his family where by they may become werewolves. He also knows demons exist, not only that but they killed his parents and his sister. Fortunately for Grubbs however he is quite a natural at using magic. After going to live with his uncle Dervish in the first book he meets another relative who he believes to be his cousin. His cousin unfortunately ...

Advantages: An entertaining read, funny but with a serious undertone. Disadvantages: Only available in paperback
I'd read the other two books in the series before and been impressed, but this one became my favurite then and is still my favourite after reading the entire series. The story was well written and cleverly put together from start to finish. In my opinion, this is the best book in the series, with its combination of lighthearted humour, action packed demon fighting and a thread of romance sown throughout the story. Characters are put into positions ... ...again, and their reactions to these situations are exactly what makes the story so good.
I think that the actual book itself is only available in paperback, so if you're looking for a more hardwearing copy you may have some difficulty finding it.
Overall, from my point of view this is a great book with almost no drawbacks, and one that anyone with the guts to deal with demons can enjoy! ...

I read this book a couple of months ago ,i am hooked on the series. I am currently reading bec. Lord Loss is a brilliant book to read wich i recomend because of the twists of the storyline. There is always an unexpected jolt on the next page. This book is unputdownable. It is also original. There are books about aliens, supernatural powers and horror-monsters, but DarrenShan combines all of these and the outcome is of brilliance. It is good for young readers and old. When I finished the book i was eager for more and so the next day i bought Slawter wich is just as good and the author DarrenShan doesn't make the impact fade. I was completely satisfied with this book. I would give more detail if I could but it would most likely spoil the storyline for anyone wanting to read it. ...
