Okay, Before i start my review i would like to say that i am reviewing the Slendertone System Abs accessoery pack, and the controls as i have looked through the Slendertone products on here are this one looks very much like the one i have.
Why I Bought The Product?
After Having my 3 children all by C-Section i put on quite a bit of weight With my last pregnancy, at 5'1" weighing 11 stone and a size 14 (tight fit), I thought it was about time i did some thing about it as i wanted to be healthier and change the way i looked abit. And i did lose a bit of weight but only a few pounds to start with, but the weight was not the main problem it was from where i had the 3 C-Sections and from where i had been cut and stitched so many times. I had been left with this horrid bulge / flap of loose skin on my tummy that just seemed to hang there and beleive me it didn't look good to me, so i can just imagine what it look like to my long term partner ( even though he never said anything ). So just after christmas i dicided to get a bit of help and buy a
Slendertone belt system.
The Product Packaging,
When scot (my partner) came in with the Argo's bag, i took the box out and was quite impressed. It comes in a black box with white and gold writing on it it has the name of the company and product on the front, along with slogans like "Time to look and feel good" and "Stronger Firmer Abs in 4 Weeks" and a picture of a ladies nice toned stomach. And on the other 3 sides you have a welcome to Slendertone in english and a few other languages, guaranteed results on another again in other languages and on the final side you have 2 diagrams of how the product affects your muscles and the contents.
Overall i thought that all this looked good and worked for the belt.

About The Product,
Okay this is where i got a bit disappointed, i open the box and me thinking you would be able to pop in a few batteries and off you go .... hmnn well no it does not quite work like that (No Controller). And so in the box it goes and i have to wait for argo's to re-open in the morning so i could go and buy the controller to make the belt work, and now my original £39.99 for the belt has turned into £119.98, as the controller costs £79.99.
So the next evening after my shower out the box it comes ( it's best to use the belt on clean skin plus it takes 2 hours to charge the controller). In the box you get a quick guide for using the belt, a large instruction book and a small booklet listing other Slendertone products, a bag with the belt in and a material storage bag and another bag with 3 covered sticky pads in. So me being me read the quick guide and popped the belt on whilst i read the main instruction manual.
Using the belt is quite straight forward and easy, you just get the long black belt which has a mark of a large square with a metal stud in the center of it, in the middle of belt for the first pad and 3 brackets to either side of the square that look like this (((+ _ +))) , these brackets are for you to work out where to put the pads they also have one metal stud per 3 brackets, to match your waist size (i will add the waist sizes to the end of the review). I held the belt up to my waist with the markings on the outside to see which was the best fit for me, instead of actually measuring myself (as i have gotten a little lazy over the years) which turned out to work just fine. Now i knew where the pads where going i had the job of getting the pads onto the belt, which is again easy but a bit of a sticky job as they come with a clear plastic cover on either side, so off came the cover on the gridded side of the pad, you take this one of first and position it on the belt over the metal stud as this side allows the flow of the current that is going to zap you. Once i had completed little task with all 3 pads came the slightly harder but still easy part of taking of the clear plastic on the other side of the pads. This was a bit frustrating for me, as everytime i went to pull off the plastic, i would lift the other side from the belt, so you have to use your fingers which is sticky, but after a bit i had the job done. Now i was ready to pop on the belt (up the right way with the plug for the controller at the top).
Ok i have now got the belt on and it does not feel so bad (as it contacts and relax's, contracts and so on), It has 7 programmes for the System Abs Belt and an intensity range of 0 - 99, i can so far get up too 82 untill it becomes uncomforable, but i did start of at 20 and work my way up as in the larger book, Slendertone have put in a 30 day work out plan for the belt telling you what days to use it and what days to let your muscles rest, they also tell you in the plan what intensity levels you should use on what days increasing the level each time. Also in the book it does have a list of the functions and information for the controller, it tells you what the controller symbols mean and how to lock the device, how to recharge the battery and so on.
In The Instruction Book,
In the book you start with Welcome and introduction to the Slendertone System you are using, and about the product warranty and contents that come with the manual. From there you move on to the unit controls and the unit display too .... How does muscle stimulation technology work , setting up your Slendertone system and about your first toning session (i already had the belt on at this point). Now obviously they tell you about getting results (as part of a healty diet and exercising too) and your 30 day plan.
Caring for your belt is also important and it can be washed, but not in the washing machine, you should also never put bleach on the belt ( ???). The instructions also contain some does and don't ... like wear the belt when pregnant, or if you have a electrical implant like a pacemaker, So i guess it is important to read the book before wearing the belt, it also has more information on the controller telling you about additional functions, keylocks and error messages and a page on the technical specificationa and problem solving for the device, with frequently asked questions.
Other Information,
The pads for this product are replaceable and even though i have not needed to buy any yet, i do believe you can buy them from Argo's around £10 - £15 per pack and slendertone (i will add there contact information at the bottom of the review), The battery pack for the controller is rechargeable and also replaceable but it does state that you should only buy these from Slendertone and tou should never open the actual unit for repair, but contact Slendertone and send the unit to them. You can also purchace other items for the controller, like the arm toning system and men's belts plus other garments.
The belt i have is the ladies belt and will fit waist sizes :
24"-31" / 61 - 79 cm
30"-38" / 76 - 97 cm
37"-44" / 94 - 112cm
Also on the box it say's "Firmer, Sronger Abs in 4 Weeks" in the instruction manual it does state that it may take up to 8 weeks.
My personal Thoughts Of The Product,
Okay, seeing as i originally bought the belt at £39.99, i didn't find the price too bad, but having to pay an extra £79.99 for the controller as the belt is non returnable at Argo's i found a bit gutting, but it was worth it as i am starting to see results and my saggy bit is starting to lift, but it is not all the belts doing, like it say's in the instructions this does include a lot of hard work and exercise, but i have not dieted only cut my portion sizes i also go on my exercise bike for 1 hour every evening whilst watching tv, and have upped my walking like to book suggests. but overall it is helping to tone my stomach as i loose weight and i am now a size 12 (comfortable) and am now down to 10 stone 2 pounds, all i have to do is stick with the programme really. i would also like to add not only do i look better for it, it has also helped boost my confidence and lifted my spirit. if you are like me and are going to use the belt then i would recommend buying it, but if it is some thing you are only going to use a handfull of times and then pop it in the bottom of the wardrobe, then i would say don't but it as it is a lot of money to part with.
