I might be getting back to Ciao sometime soon as I am quitting my job the last day of August and starting school in September, and now 2 sons to occupy my Ciao time instead of just one.

Well yap I am back, and through my short term break from Ciao I really did not do anything but eat, eat, eat, and ummm eat. I found it too cold to do much bike riding, plus the bearings went out in my rear wheel and that kind of hindered me for a while to. Well what does all this have to do with Slim Fast? Well you probably know. After eating, eating, eating, and eating and then not doing my normal 20-40 mile daily bike ride or any going to the gym anymore, I sorta added on a few pounds, well okay about 25 pounds or so. Now with this added weight and my physical readiness test for the military coming up it sort of put me into a delima. I needed to drop the 25 pounds in order to just pass the weigh in. So I started cutting back on my foods, but with me that is hard, I love to cook and everything I cook I love to eat. Well that is when my wife suggested Slim-fast. (Well actually she suggested it because it was on sale.) So off we went to the local Tescos to check it out.
After getting to Tesco's, we went and checked out the sale display for the Slim-fast. It was 2 shakes for 1 pound. I figured you can't beat that, so I bought 2 to get started with to make sure I would actually drink them before wasting my money. I had 4 Choices: Banana, Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Since my wife likes Strawberry so much I had to try that one, and ofcourse my favorite
flavor Banana.
Upon returning home I sat one in the fridge and waited until it was time to eat and popped it open while my wife sat down with a lovely full dinner right in front of me. While I sipped on my Banana Slim-fast shake the taste was quit nice. It was not that much different than an actual banana milk shake, and to my suprise it was actually filling. The next day for breakfast I decided to pop open the Strawberry one and get my day started right. The Strawberry now tastes a bit mediciny, but still is not that much worse than Nestles strawberry milk. After trying both of my first two choices out, I headed back to Tesco to go ahead and let my money go. Ofcourse it has to be worth it right?
Now Slim-fast has a huge line of products, and I have not tried each and every one, but from what I have tried, I have found enjoyable enough to put up with to help maintain my weight loss. Their product line include: snack bars, Meal replacement bars, powder shakes, ready to drink shakes, soup, pasta, frozen meals and frozen desserts.
The snack bars come in 4 variaties, Chocolate Muesli, Chocolate Peanut, Chocolate Chip, and Chocolate Caramel. I have yet to put these to the test, but soon I will. From researching i have found that each bar contains 91-97 calories and comes in packs of 6.
The Meal replacement bars is something I have yet to try too. This I will probably be when the shakes go off sale or I get tired of them. The come in 5 different flavours, Chocolate crunch, Fruits of the forest, Yogurt muesli, Toffee and Chocolate. They range from 214-245 calories per serving and cost about 3.49 pounds for 3 bars at Tesco.
The powder shakes come in 4 flavors and also 1 hot mix. You can choose between Strawberry, Banana, Chocolate and Vanilla. They have between 215-221 calories per serving. Each container provides 12 servings. The hot mix, Hot Chocolate, contains 203 calories per serving and provides 8 servings. These will cost about 4.66 pounds at Tesco.
The ready to drink shakes. Tesco carries 4 of the 7 flavors of the ready drink shakes. The four previously mentioned, banana, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate, along with a cafe classic, cafe mocha and peach. Each of these shakes contain about 216 calories and right now are on special at Tesco for 2 for 1 pound. Normal price on these shakes are .73 pounds each or 4.13 pounds per 6 pack.
The slim-fast soup range includes 4 different flavors consisting of Mediterranean tomato soup, seasoned chicken soup with sweetcorn, Garden vegetable soup with peppers and Creamy Wild mushroom soup. Okay although I would never in my right mind try the Creamy wild mushroom soup,the others are still on the list once I find where they are sold. The calorie content of each soup ranges from 218 to 224 calories per serving.
The slimfast pasta range includes 3 types. Pasta carbonara with cheese and bacon, Pasta pomodoro with tomato and herbs and Pasta florentina with Broccoli and spinach. The calories per serving are from 233-237. This is another product which is not sold at my local Tesco, so I am still looking for it also.
The Frozen ready meals! Slim-fast has come up with 6 different frozen ready meals for you to enjoy while still staying withing your calorie consumption. They include, Chicken korma with coriander and basmati rice, chilli con carne with kidney beans and rice, Honey and Mustard Chicken with spring vegetable rice, oriental chicken with ginger and rice, Thai chicken with lemongrass and rice, and Italian Chicken with chilli and penne. The calorie content ranges between 365-400 calories. Pefect for an evening meal and still have room left over for dessert. These are on special at Tesco right now for a buy one get one at 1.99 pounds. Or you can buy them individually for 1.99 pounds.
The slim fast frozen desserts. Finally to the goodies. I have not run across these yet either, but FOR SURE will be on the look out for them. they come in 2 flavors Chocolate and caramel stick bars and Vanilla and strawberry cups. They both contain under 100 calories per serving.
Slim fast also offers online support. by logging onto their website, you will be able to track your own progress and have many questions answered. It gives benificial information about dieting and exercising and low calorie recipes. They offer a toll free number to answer any question you might have about their products that you can not find there also.
So far Slim fast has been working for me. I am constantly losing weight and sticking to their basic plan for calorie intake as well as exercising regularly again.
