with dishes both sweet and spicy, fresh and fragrant, and delicious and decadent. With soups and starters such as Thai green curry soup and Onion bhajis, you can recreate all those restaurant favourites at home. Main-course curries feature such classics as slow-cooked lamb rogan josh, red-hot beef madras, and mild creamy chicken korma. There are plenty of fish and seafood options too, like aromatic Goan prawn curry or Kerala-style fish steamed in banana leaves. Or for a lighter option, try refreshing lemongrass and prawn salad or chicken tikka with red onion. For vegetarians, lentils, rice and pulses make fantastic dishes including tarka dhal, chana masala, spiced beetroot with coconut and Mumbai aloo (cumin-scented potatoes). And an Indian banquet wouldn't be complete without accompaniments such as lime pickle and coconut pickle. Whether you want a simple one-dish supper at home, or a feast ...

As she ran through the plan I thought it sounded easy as they emphasise that you can still have things like chocolate. Just in moderation! She congratulated us for coming saying that coming for the first time was hard to do. You also get a welcome pack, which includes a 'Food Optimising' book. It explains everything in there and its also the book where your weight is ...

Advantages: You don't get hungry on the diet, you feel better, you lose weight Disadvantages: £4.50 per week fee, complicated to follow at first
Along with Weight Watchers, Slimming World is surely one of the most popular ways of losing weight in this country. Both are big businesses with their own classes, magazines, food products and their own individual take on the best way to lose weight.
I had never been a member of either, until the last week of January, when I attended my first Slimming World class. So why did I join? How am I getting on? Would I recommend it?

I went to the website and discovered the price was affordable (just about!), and there was a daytime class in my area that I could walk to. So I rang the consultant and had a chat ...

...solution for you. It is Slimming World. Yes, you may laugh, but it does work. I decided that I needed to loose weight when I found I was wearing size 18 clothes. Shane my hubby joined at the same time but he was very sceptical. We had just been to South American and the pictures of us showed us to be huge. So BANG we needed to do something about it and my friend was Food Optimising and loosing weight, so I thought I would give it a go. The leader will then answer any questions you may have. Then you pay your fee and then you are weighed and you weight will be recorded in your book, which you are given when Food Optimising is discussed and on your personal record, which the consultant keeps, so as to make sure your book is up to date if you forget it. ...

Advantages: Eat Healthily, Feel better, Lose weight, meet new people Disadvantages: Cost of classes and membership
I joined Slimming World on the 6th January 2004. I decided to join for a number of reasons but the main three were:
*I wanted to loose weight
*We were going on holiday in June
*I want to look good in my wedding dress
I have never been very good with diets but a friend from work told me she was joining and I decided that I would join with her and give it a go.
We go every Tuesday dinner time, between 12 - 1pm.

Once you attend the next class, every class is the same. You will be weighed and your weight will be recorded in your book, for you to keep. Once everyone has been weighed, the class consultant will then read out everybody’s names and how much weight they have lost this week and altogether. Your actual weight is never disclosed, just what you have lost or gained!

Advantages: A social gathering of like minded people Disadvantages: Costly, poor advice.
...wouldn’t have considered joining a slimming club had it not been for a group of ladies I used to work with, I had put on a few pounds after giving up smoking. We all joined Slimming World in March 2003 and I remained a member until September of the same year. It cost £10 to join and then a weekly paid fee of £3.50.
For this sum you were weighed (discreetly) weekly, and your weight was recorded in a book, I got quite a shock at this point when I ... ...had the opportunity to buy Slimming World Magazine at an approximately £1 discount on the high street price and you could buy some revolting sorry nutritious food/fruit & cereal bars.
At the first session you had to complete a personal detail sheet which was handed back in, and then discuss with the advisor your ideal target weight. She explained that once you reach target weight you then could stay a member forever and no longer have to pay the ...

Advantages: Big name, easy to follow diet Disadvantages: No special care given, feeling that you're just another source of money,
...I am sure that the Weight Watchers diet is very good, in fact I DID lose some weight on it before I realised that I wasn't supposed to diet due to an illness I had contracted.
I was very upset with the 'service' that the Weight Watchers consultant gave..having since joined SlimmingWorld after recovering from my illness, I found that they would not have accepted me as a member until I had been on my tablets for a given length of time. I told the Weight Watchers consultant exactly the same information and she said it was fine.
Also, at the Weight Watchers meeting, nearly everyone left staright after being weighed whereas at the SlimmingWorld club (in the same area) almost everyone stays behind which makes it feel far more 'clubby'. The consultant encourages you to ring her with ANY questions and also to get to know each other...

Advantages: value for money Disadvantages: little over the top with the advertising
...I previously did a review on SlimmingWorld complaining about how i felt cheated about the fact they had changed their Syns system.
Well here is a review of the Magazine (not the diet),
It comes out every 2 months and will put you back £2.25 - which is really quite good - they obviously dont want to rip us off every month like some slimming magazines - they wait and gather the revelavant info for their slimmers and deliver it when ready.
A good quality mag which does unfortunately go a little over the top with the advertising and real life success stories.
On the whole though an enjoyable read.
SlimmingWorld "believe that successful weight loss is about being free - free from hunger, free from guilt and free to enjoy life"
The "Syns" system is unique to SlimmingWorld and works on a "Food Optimizing" basis where no foods...

Advantages: something to stick too, Disadvantages: allowing yourslef treats!
...I have tried every diet going, atkins, slimming pills, weight watchers, slimmingworld! I have each of these more than once, and i keep coming back to slimfast, i do fine for a few weeks and then bang! out the window with the rest! I have read a few reveiws about it and a few mention the shaker, which cost approx £2, and then another said that they burn that many calories shaking it. i have always found the best way to mix the powder drink is in a jug, with the milk, with a whisker, this gives a lovely frofthy milkshake! i cant drink the ready drinks or the powder unless mixed this way or i find it just tastes like flavoured milk. the meal replacement bars are really not for me, I am a very fussy eater, and I mean fussy! I think with a little will power this is fine as long as you don not have temptation in front of you every day...
