I decided on a Slumbersac - a blue and dark beige sleeping bag with little giraffes on the front with blue feet.
So what is a slumbersac?
Basically, it is a sleeping bag available in different togs (weights) ranging from a 0.5 - for use in very hot rooms or during the summer right up to 2.5 which is for cooler rooms and use in the winter. The sleeping bag has a zip all the way around as well as poppers on each shoulder ... ...bag.
The slumbersac comes in three different sizes:
Size 1 - 66cm - to fit from birth up to 3/6 months
Size 2 - 86cm - to fit from 3 months up to 12/18 months
Size 3 - adjustable - 92/112cm to fit from 12 months to 2 years (folded) 3 years (extended)
The slumber sac comes with very clear guidelines as to what your baby should wear depending on the temperature of the room.

As a result she has been waking up in the night - just as we had start to get her sleeping through.
I had been told about baby sleeping bags by a number of people and so decided to give one a go.

The sleeping bag has a zip all the way around as well as poppers on each shoulder so that baby does not slip down into the sleeping bag.
Why use a sleeping bag?
Sleeping bags are recommended to help prevent babies from slipping under the covers or from getting covers caught around their face. If your baby does have a tendancy to move around in the night then the sleeping bag will help to prevent moving, and keep them warm even if they do manage to wriggle off!
It also stops babies fel getting caught in the sides of the cot as they are safely tucked up inside the bag.

I brought a 2.5 tog bag in preparation for the winter, but as my babies room is quite warm, the guide recommends just dressing her in a short sleeve bodysuit.
It recommends:
For a cool room - 13c - 18c - long sleeve bodysuit with pyjamas or sleepsuit.
For an ideal room - 18c - 21c - short sleeve bodysuit with pyjama top only
A 2.5 tog bag is the equivalent to 2 blankets and a sheet.
The slumbersac aslo comes with some Do's and Don'ts to ensure that you use the bag correctly.
These include:
Making sure you check the temperature of the room and dress baby accordingly Do make sure you put baby to sleep in the feet to foot position Do sleep baby on its back Do not let the baby get too hot Do not let your baby sleep on a sofa or use blankets on top of the sleeping bag.
Washing guidelines advise washing the bag at 40c. The bag itself is made up of:
I have been using the slumbersac for about a week and have seen a real improvement in my daughters sleep. She has been going longer through the night and has stayed in the same position all night. I have been tucking the end of the bag into the end of the cot for extra security.
My daughter certainly enjoys sleeping in the bag and giggles like made when I pop her in and zip it up. She has not had any trouble getting used to the bag at all, but the guide does recommend putting your baby in the bag while you feed her so that she gets used to it.
I had a good look around for the sleeping bag and prices ranged from 15.00 - 30.00. Luckly a friend of mine recommended checking in TK Maxx where I eventually brought my slumbersac for the bargin price of 9.99.
For further information about the slumbersac you can visit www.slumbersac.com.
I would certainly recommend the slumbersac for all babies however, it is recommended that babies do not use the sac until they weight more than 8Ibs.
For a perfect night sleep for you and your baby you should definately try a Slumbersac!!
Advantages: Helps baby sleep better Disadvantages: It's like being in a bean bag, when a toddler wakes up it's tricky standing up
My son hadn't slept throughout the night since we brought him home from the hospital, and that was more than a year ago. I have tried several sleep techniques- establishing a bed time routine by having a bath at night with bedtime wash and applying bedtime lotion, reading a book, winding down e.t.c but he would wake up at least twice during the night. He would often wake up because the room was too cold and he had kicked off the covers. I read a ... ...make a baby sleep better. Though I had read about them and seen a few in stores, I wasn't personally familiar with sleeping bags, no I knew had used them as a child nor used them on their children, so it was a novel concept to me. Despite that, I decided to give it a try.
The bag is designed to use a baby's body heat to keep him/her warm at night and even when it is hot, taking of a layer of clothing would keep a baby comfortable. Slumber Sac Baby ...

Quick review of SlumberSac Sleeping Bags
I have found the Slumbersac to be of a very poor quality. I ordered 2 sleepingbags using the special online offer. The Slumbersacs have now been used for 3 weeks and both zips are no longer working! Before buying the Slumbersac my son slept in either a Grobag or a Dreambag (for over a year) and both have been of outstanding quality. He has now grown out of them and therefore I ordered the Slumbersacs. They might be cheaper, but that definitely shows! ...

Quick review of SlumberSac Sleeping Bags
I have used Slumbersacs for both my children and found them to be great. They are perfect for little wriggly ones and give you piece of mind that they are sleeping warm and safe. My children have never managed to wriggle out of one but they don't stop them from moving either. ...

Hard to rate this product except as a waste of money. I didn't get around to trying it as it fell apart the first time I washed it. It had a patch design and the stitching just came undone. I couldn't restitch it either as the material itself was falling apart with loose threads everywhere. I washed it according to instructions. I know that it is cheaper than other brands, but in this case, you don't even get what you paid for! It's a shame because ...
