Smarties have been around for years and today in my local shop they have them in a tube with snowflakes on (the winter wonderland edition), arrrggghhhh!

The tube I have is massive and contains 170g of Smarties. The tube is made of cardboard and has a yellow plastic lid that you flip off to get in. The design is very colourful with a dark blue background and lots of Smarties in different colours all over the tube. Smarties are made by Nestle and that name along with the Smarties name is printed on the tube. The front of the tube (if there is one?) boasts no artificial colours or flavours. The back of the tube details the ingredients which is the longest list I have ever seen so if you would like to know beyond the sugar, coco mass, whey powder (from milk), wheat flour, butterfat, skimmed milk powder and coco butter then please use the contact details given at the end of the review. Taking a quick glance at the nutritional information, per 20g serving they contain 91 calories, which is what to be expected from a chocolate based sweet. So once again, enjoy but take it easy. The tube finally states that it is recyclable and actively encourages you to do so.

The Smarties themselves come in a range of colours from red to green to yellow with the purple one being my favourite, although I don't know why, they all taste the same! The Smarties are small disc shaped things of joy with a shiny crunchy shell and a softer milk chocolate centre. So you get a lovely mix of textures as you bite through. The taste of a soft velvety milk chocolate and a sweet crunchy outside that melts together in your mouth.

As well as just for eating, their main use, they make for excellent cake decorating as you have lots to create words and numbers.

The biggest problem I have with Smarties is that I tend to eat a tube within seconds as the tube (even this big one), makes for a quick entry mechanism into my belly!
