The GPS unit was easy to install and came complete with fixings for ease of installation. The RLD was a little more tricky but again the fixings are provided with detailed instructions of how to install. You can have the RLD mounted on the dashboard as well but I thought this made the windscreen look cluttered. The GPS unit has to be registered. Once registered you need to download the database of speed cameras to the unit. A modem lead is supplied to connect to a telephone line in order to do this. Once this has been done the unit can be used. The GPS unit identifies the type of camera you are approaching. You can set the distance from the camera for when the unit gives you an alert and you can set the type of tone the unit will emit. When in use it detected all the cameras on my route as well as cameras on other roads. This can be altered so that the unit only alerts you when you are either on the motorway or alternatively on city roads. I had the unit in the All setting which is why it alerted me to cameras on the other road. Changing the setting to City or Motorway reduced the incidences of alerts for cameras on other roads. During an alert you can cancel the audible alert by pressing Mute. The units LED's will continue to flash until you are past the camera. If you do come across a camera that is not in the database you can save the coordinates in your unit and upload them when you next download the database to your unit. These coordinates are then verified and then added to the database which is good news for everyone. The RLD unit detects laser and radar guns that may be used in police speed traps which provides further protection. All in all a good piece of equipment that provides reliable detection and is priced competitively.
