...I recently treated myself to Soap & Glory's offering, Flake Away. Soap & Glory is a range developed by Marcia Kilgore, the lady who developed the Bliss range - fabulous products but at bank breaking prices! The Soap & Glory products aim to bring products of a similar quality at a more mid range price and having tried quite a few now I would say they achieve that fantastically!
The Flake Away exfoliator really appealed to me as the ... ...doesn't smell great. All the Soap & Glory products smell fab and this one is no exception - an odd smell to place, it smells like sweets, like the little milk bottles with a dash of sherbert tossed in. Very girly without being especially flowery or old fashioned! It does contain the traditional sea salt, as well as grapeseed oil, almond oil, shea butter, sugar and peach seed powder, which combined give moisturising properties as well as exfoliating. more
Exfoliating is such an essential part of the skincare routine but one that often gets neglected. However, anyone who regularly exfoliates will tell you of the massive improvement it makes to your skin - the rubbing itself stimulates the skin, giving a healthy glow, and the shedding of dead skin reveals the beautifully glowing skin below. Exfoliating has such a great effect on your skin it can easily become addictive - a friend (and dooyoo member - I won't shame her by giving her name!) recently asked me if I thought it was ok to list exfoliating as a hobby on her CV. I'm not sure she was joking...
I've used a number of body exfoliators and I recently treated myself to Soap & Glory's offering, Flake Away. The Flake Away exfoliator really appealed to me as the main thing I tend to dislike about exfoliating scrubs is the salt, which I often find harsh and doesn't smell great.
The packaging is great - really kitschy bubblegum pink with very 50's retro lettering. The packaging for the entire range is always fun and this one is no exception. It comes in a large pink tub which is available in 2 sizes, a 75ml trial/travel size and a 300ml full size version. Having left it in the shower, it's also reasonably water proof, as I was worried water would get in and ruin the scrub!
Appearance wise it looks pretty unimpressive, but then most exfoliators do! A kind of brown, speckly colour - not exactly pretty looking. To use you simply rub into your body with your fingers, massaging gently in circles. I was surprised at the consistency of this - it was much firmer than I'd expected and works so that when you scoop it up in your hands and massage in circles into wet skin, it just melts, leaving the oils to soak into your skin doing their moisturising thing, and the salt crystals to exfoliate as you massage gently. This is really a shower only product - it will leave crystals if you use it in the bath which are always a pain to rinse away.
Where I find this works best is any areas that are really dry - my heels and legs get a good going over with this twice a week and when you get out of the shower you really do feel soft and moisturised (of course, I still apply moisturiser after, being the beauty freak I am!). I also find this works really well on smoothing out the tiny bumps I've have on my upper arms which are a real problem for me. The product I would compare this to quality wise is Clarins Toning Body Polisher, which has a similar melt on the body effect and costs a whopping £24 from Boots, making this, at £5.86 a pot, something of a bargain! When you add into that the fact that Soap & Glory are currently on 3 for 2 at Boots this really is great value (I took full advantage of this the other day!)
...had not actually heard of Soap and Glory. It was actually my friend (yes, the same one who has me addicted to Lush products now too!) was talking about their range, and I was totally clueless. Though since then I have sampled some of their beauty products, and I must say, I have been quite impressed! One of the products is the Soap and Glory Flake Away body scrub, which works on flaky skin (!). This can be recognised by its circular plastic tub, ... ...there is the soap and glory logo, with the instructions for use written in a circle around it. This is definitely much more fun than boring block directions! There are a few of the Soap and Glory products which have a similar packaging, but this one can be identified specifically by a large label on the side saying 'Flake Away'. Once you know you have the right product, it is time to use! When you unscrew the lid you are met with a brownish pale ...

...few months ago discovered the Soap and Glory range and I have not been disappointed by any of the products that I have tried to date especially of you head to boot they normally have a special offer on, I go some products on 3 for 2 but if you head down to Boots now they are on save a third which is an absolute bargain, this is an offer that is not to be missed. Advantages: soft and silky skin, gorgeous scent Disadvantages: gets stuck in the razor
I love the Soap & Glory Range and this is one of my favourite products. I have to admit I am a bit lazy with exfoliation but the divine smell encourages me to do it more. The body scrub is packaged in a 300ml pink round tub with the usual retro style label of the range. Although it says "Transform your scaly legs from reptilian to radiant" on the tub you can use this all over your body (except those obviously sensitive areas). I really like the packaging ... ...if you do use the Soap & Glory moisturiser afterwards you do get the longer-lasting scent and feel doubly moisturised (although a little greasy for a while!). The scent is absoloutely gorgeous, really soft, feminine and floral as complimented by the rest of the range. This was te first Soap & Glory product I bought and the smell made me fall in love with the rest! I have very few complaints about this product but one thing I will say is that if you ...
