Bump Belt, every pregnant woman should have one! Advantages: A true life saver and so simple to use Disadvantages: None! ...reviewing when I saw the Baby Safe Bump Belt. I was so enthused by this innovative product that I stopped doing what I was doing and started to write this review straight away! This is another fantastic product and it is so simple and easy to use, yet it can save the life of your unborn child. Every pregnant woman should have one! I can't remember how I came to buy mine but I guess it must have been while on yet another trawl through the catalogues ... ...a bump.' Sadly when her baby was born approximately two weeks later, he was found to have severe brain damage and died soon afterwards. Following a post mortem, they found that the brain damage was in a band across his head which correlated to where the seat belt would have been during the accident. what havoc there would be without them Advantages: - Disadvantages: - ...Mum decided to get some Kiddiproof door locks. They are excellent and now our lovely little niece can go into the kitchen without emptying our cupboards because she cannot open them anymore. Very easy to install and unless you know that they are fitted in, you can’t tell. A child will have great difficulty in opening the locks. You are required to hold a button down on the side and top and then release the catch for the door to open. The kiddiproof ... ...You can buy Kiddiproof door locks from most DIY stores, we bought our from Do It All. They have stopped my niece causing havoc in the kitchen. I would say that they as a safety device they are excellent, since our niece is quite small and young yet they work really well. Not as illustrated, they are DANGEROUS Advantages: None Disadvantages: very dangerous I write as a qualified electrical engineer and fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the professional body for UK engineers. I would like to draw attention to the DANGERS of using socket covers. Since the 1940's the 13A power sockets used in the UK have had to incorporate a shutter mechanism which prevents anything but a power plug being inserted into them, thus little fingers cannot touch anything dangerous. Socket covers will ... ...the same shape as a power plug, however small differences in their design mean that it is possible to insert them upside down into the earth socket only, this disables the safety mechanism and renders the socket dangerous. Socket covers are DANGEROUS Advantages: None Disadvantages: Turns a safe socket into a dangerous socket! British 13 amp sockets have been fully child safe since their introduction in 1947. they are the safest in the world. Socket covers reduce safety, not increase it! Infants CAN NOT put fingers into the socket holes, the holes are too small and they are protected by internal safety shutters ( this is a legal requirement). Many socket covers are easy to remove by small children, this is partly because there are no socket covers which are made to the ... ...Once removed a child can easily put the cover in upside down (earth pin only) and this causes the internal shutter to be opened and the socket is then in a very dangerous condition. The "earth pin" on this particular type has been found to be fragile and can snap off in the socket, leaving the shutters held open.
