If I am honest I never really thought much about them until on one of my weekly jaunts around Asda, I noticed that they were on special 3 for a £1 (Normal price approx £1.73 for 3). Well with summer just around the corner, my kids feel that I should be buying ice-cream the same way as I buy milk and bread. My youngest loves anything that is messy and colourful. So taking care of the kids is easy, but what about us grown ups.
If you are trying to eat a little bit healthier, then most ice-creams are off the menu and the ones that are not have very little taste to them. One day I was talking to a friend (my forever on a diet friend, even though she looks like a stick insect) and she told me that Walls Solero were very low in fat. Solero is made by Walls (Unilever). It was introduced into the UK market in 1994. Walls started making Ice-cream in 1913 but then shelved the idea after the war in 1918 to return to the meat and pie business. After Walls had been sold to Lever brothers in 1922 they started making ice-cream again. Since then Walls has become one the most well known names in ice-cream. Walls now have a 28% share in the ice-cream market, which is the highest in the entire industry.

PRODUCT Upon ripping open my box of 3 Soleros, the lollys were individually wrapped in packaging that very much resembled the box. The lollys were a bright orange colour with a lovely exotic fruity smell. The first bite was a bit of a shock, it was very fruity and the only way to describe it is fantastic. I could taste the mango and the passion fruit dancing on my taste buds. In the middle was lovely ice-cream with ripples of fruit sorbet running thru it. Upon the first bite I decided that these were not to be shared but should remain mine alone. Unfortunately my oldest daughter spotted me eating one and grabbed one for herself. She had the exact same reaction as myself and could not get over the fact that they contained only 4% fat. DAMN
NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION To me at the moment one of the most import things of product is the nutritional information. I knew that these only had 4% fat but that sometimes can fool you into thinking that it also means its low in calories too. I was very pleasantly surprised with these as per ice-cream there is only 104 calories and 2.9grams of fat.
INGREDIENTS Reconstituted skimmed milk, exotic fruit blend (passion fruit, mango, peach 18%), sugar, water, pineapple juice from concentrate (5%), orange pulp, vegetable fat, glucose-fructose syrup, whey solids, stabilisers (E410, E412, E407), lemon juice from concentrate, emulsifier (E471), colour (E160a), citric acid and flavouring. There does seem to be a lot of E numbers but personally I am willing to over look that.
CONCLUTION These are a slimmers salvation. If like me you have a very sweet tooth then these could be the answer. Most chocolate bars have a lot higher calorie and fat content and don’t last anywhere as long as these. Just because they are a lower fat content they lack nothing in taste which seems to be a major fault in some other products. I am going to start a campaign that anyone who is stick thin should not be allowed to eat these frozen sticks of joy. Just kidding (mmmmmmm). After checking out their website I noticed that in fact Solero Exotic has the highest content of fat, red fruits have 3 % and Orange has 0%. What an excuse to try the others.

Thank you for looking at my review. My pet hate is a review that goes on forever and I know this one is fairly long, but you have to do these wonderful ice-creams justice.
Advantages: really refreshing Disadvantages: they are not everlasting
...treat myself to a Walls Solero as I am a big fan of these.
Ok what is a Solero, well it was first launched by Walls in 1994 and was the first ice cream lolly of its kind combining ice cream with a soft fruit puree – sound delicious then read on an I will tell you.
OK, lets get the price bit out of the way, you can buy a pack of 3 for around £1.99 in most supermarkets though do look out for the BOGOF offers that are sometimes around as this really ... ...though you can also get Solero in Orange fresh, Red fruits and peach yoghurt flavour though these tend to be in multipacks only at least in my area. So OK what is ‘exotic’ flavour well looking at the list of ingredients its is a combination of passion fruit, mango and peach with some pineapple juice added but most importantly there is not an E number in sight.
The wrapper is coloured to reflect the fruit flavours and depicts pictures of the fruits ...

Advantages: A good source of Vit C, contains real fruit Disadvantages: It's quite expensive
...easy to spot, with the Solero Getfruit logo printed across the lid and round the side. The distinctive Walls ‘heart’ logo is above the ‘l’ in Solero. The Strawberry and Raspberry container is bright pink with blue trimming and the Tropical is orange and yellow.
The only complaint about the container I have is that it’s made from a waxed paper that tends to get a little soft once it’s about half empty.
Now for the ice cream! A few people that know ... ...or preservatives either.
Overall I would definitely recommend Solero Getfruit to everyone; especially if you aren’t that keen on eating fruit or have children that object to ‘healthy eating’!

Advantages: yummy Disadvantages: I refuse to believe that there are any.
...Exotic fruits - the first solero product. Tearing away the paper you encounter a bright orange ice - which, when explored further, tastes of exotic fruit (shock!) mostly mango, but other things as well. The taste is refreshing without being sharp or citrussy. Beneath the fruity outer layer is ice cream. The ice cream is superb - vanilla, rich, creamy and perfect. It is one of the best ice creams to be had as far as I am concerned. Eventually you ... ...to stop eating as these are not that tasty.
Summer fruits - much like the exotic fruits, only pink, this has a fruity ice with ice cream in the middle. I can't say there is a dominate flavour, other than sheer fruitiness. As with the exotic fruits, there is a pleasing contrast between ice cream and fruity ice.
Strawberry things - these are new, and as I've only made a brief forray, I'm not entirely sure about the name. These consist of a fruit ...

...has to be a Walls Solero (exotic flavour only though). Hard to believe but they are only 99 calories per ice cream, and they also have no artificial colours or flavourings!
I was actually amazed! Other flavours of Walls Solero include strawberry and banana smoothie, blackberry and banana smoothie and they also have mini red fruit and exotic Solero's. First of all I suggest taking the lolly out and leaving it for a one or two minutes so that the ... ...as mine usually comes out a bit frosted. The whole outside of the ice-cream is covered in the thick exotic sorbet coating, it gives off a fruity smell and it has a lovely tangy taste to it. The sorbet has a strong flavour to it, very sweet but very nice. I usually like to bite off the outside first. The ice cream itself is something else! It's amazingly smooth and creamy tasting, hard to believe it's so low in calories, containing swirls of exotic ...

...a pack of 3 Walls Solero exotic fruits cost me £1.99 for the pack.. These lollies are quite big, a bit big for a small child.
Walls (unilever) first made Solero lollies in 1994.the exotic variety in 1997. Solero’s are a soft ice cream on a stick; the ice cream is covered in a soft fruit puree. These lollies are available in a range off flavours .orange, forest fruits, red fruits, and citrus fruits.
Now these ice cream lollies are marketed as being ... ...ice lolly products. The exotic solero I ate had only 2.2% fat and has vit c in it. Since it is made with milk a Solero contains calcium and protein too. Each one has 99 k calories.
My Exotic Solero was refreshing it tasted of a tropic summer, it was fruity there is 27 % juice in the ice cream / lolly. The centre is a vanilla ice cream with a swirl of fruit in it. The covering is made from a combination of pineapple, passion fruit, mango and peach ...

Advantages: Contains No Fat Disadvantages: Contains Milk Proteins
I have never been one to worry too much about what I eat but given an option I prefer to eat healthily if I can. Recently whilst shopping in Tesco, I have however made a couple of conscious decisions to purchase low fat varieties of food. This may have possibly had something to do with the imposing threat of middle aged spread but mostly it was because there was no difference in price between the low fat and regular options.
One such purchase involved Tesco Low Fat Yoghurt, the subject of an earlier review whilst the second purchase and the subject of this review was in my opinion a real gem of a find, I am talking about a multi-pack of three Walls Solero Orange Fresh Lollies., for these are no ordinary lollies, these are the things that dieter's dreams are made of because these iced treats are totally fat free.
Appearance & Taste ...
Advantages: Low fat/calorie, very creamy ice-cream, tastes more expensive than it is! Disadvantages: Some shops sell single ones but usually have to buy box of 3
I have been addicted to Walls Solero for a few years now!
They first appeared in around 1997 so are really an old favourite rather than a new product, but it has been improved upon over the years and the packaging has changed.
Available from most newsagents, mini-markets and supermarkets located in the freezer section they can usally be found in boxes of 3. Average price is £1.80 per box or around £1.20 if sold separately.
It comes in 2 flavours "exotic" and "summer fruits." A generous "Magnum" shape/size lolly, I usually opt for the summer fruit ones!
At less than 100 calories it's a great way to indulge (but not feel too guilty)!
The outside of the lolly is a frozen fruit compote (deep red colour) bursting with fruit flavour. Basically think summer berries pureed (redcurrants, blackcurrants, blueberries etc ...
Advantages: Fresh and tasty Disadvantages: Betcha cannot eat just one bite!
taste without being as heavy as full fat ice cream, this product will appeal to you.
I do not recommend it for a family of four, because there isnt enough to share, but if you are a single guy or gal -- perfect!!
There are other flavours too, red fruits, but I like the orange the bestest!
There! Are you curious? Did this make you want to check out the product?
PS it also TASTES and SMELLS like ORANGE!
