Are you bored? I mean really bored with absolutely nothing better to do. If you are then this might be the game for you.
The rules of solitaire are simple. You have 32 marbles arranged on a board in a cross shape. In the middle of the board is a space. Marbles are moved around the board by jumping them over other adjacent marbles. Each marble that is jumped over is then removed. The aim of the game is to end with one marble on the board.
This is a game for one person as its name suggests and when you have found the solution, as long as you remember it, you need never play again as you have solved the puzzle.
The trouble is that it is not all that easy to find the solution and so it can be very frustrating.
When I was quite young I was given a solitaire board and at the time I enjoyed playing the game. The problem was the board came with the solution, which is always a bad idea as I looked at the solution, memorised it and was from then on able to solve the puzzle. Years later the solitaire board made reappearance. I no longer remembered the solution so I can not solve it, I do not have the time or the inclination to try to solve the puzzle so I have left the board alone.
My son on the other hand loves to try this game out. He has never got down to just one marble but he is happy just to whittle the marbles down as much as possible. His enjoyment of the game has rubbed off on his sisters and so the board is regularly in use.
I think that solitaire is a game for children who are looking for a challenge or for adults when they are stuck on an island somewhere with nothing else to keep them occupied. I shall not get rid of my board but I am not about to spend a long time moving the marbles about, I have to many other things to do like writing for Dooyoo!

Advantages: It passes the time, it's a good version of a classic game Disadvantages: It lacks a high score table, varied decks, and is a bit boring really!
