Of late I have been getting a lot of headaches. I'm not sure if it's due to the sunshine, stress, change in my diet or what it is but they are really frequent. Some I think are just headaches that if I don't medicate do develop into more of a severe migraine and sometimes I know they are simply a migraine cos I am sick and feel like someone is stabbing my brain out with a fork. Just last week I had three attacks and I know that's what it is cos I was diagnosed as a migraine sufferer when I was younger.
For me when these really violent heads come over me paracetamol's and the likes simply don't work. The last attack I had I ended up taking two paracetamol's every 2 hours and it took 8 of them in total till I started to be able to lift my head off a pillow. I couldn't cry, it hurt to speak and vomiting made my head feel like it was going to explode. It got so bad I slept in my mates bed with her holding a bucket and watching as I kept dropping off and waking up screaming and after yet another night of that we went off to the chemist to ask for something to help me out as I felt unable to cope any longer.
When I was a kid my Mum always had Solpadeine in the house along with a pot of sudocrem! We only ever had the dispersible one's because like I said earlier I did suffer with migraines years ago and we found them to be the only thing that worked for me. Me though, I had forgotten about them and haven't needed them in years so when the pharmacist told me about these one's being specifically for migraine and from a brand I grew up with I instantly bought them and called my Mum actually to tell her lol.
The box is white and with red and silver writing on it and on the front of the box there is a picture of a couple of tablets looking like their fizzing and I am told that they are Solpadeine 'Headache', Soluble Tablets and that they contain paracetamol & caffeine and that they are fast acting pain relief and that they are dual action and that my box contains 16 tablets in it. Other information on the box includes being told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, warnings and ingredients are listed and contact details for GlaxoSmithKline are given. Inside the box there is a leaflet that states much of that same information as on the box and the tablets come individually wrapped in white paper and you are told what they are clearly on them in sets of two (separate them by ripping them off through the perforated line).
A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given On The Back Of The Box:
Solpadeine Headache Soluble Tablets are formulated to provide fast effective relief from headache and migraine. Also suitable for backache, toothache, period pain, neuralgia and rheumatic pain. Solpadeine Headache Soluble Tablets also relieve the fever, sore throat and aches and pains of coughs and flu.
Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
Adults and children over 12 years: Take 2 tablets dissolved in a full tumbler of water every 4 hours as required. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.
All you do is pop two large thin white tablets into alot of cold water and give them a couple of minutes to dissolve. When dissolved I always give them a quick stir as to make sure they really are dissolved cos sometimes they don't and you get chunks in your mouth which really don't taste nice at all. They make a sparkling salty sort of drink. It isn't all that pleasant but it isn't completely vile and you just knock it back and that is that.
These are simply brilliant. I take them for headaches and migraine and anyone who regularly reads my reviews will know that I suffer terribly with back ache and period pain and these really do help with that! The first time I took them it nipped a migraine attack in the bud and I couldn't believe that not only did that completely vanish in minutes but was shocked when my usual back ache had faded to almost gone too lol.
Also I have been displaying cold like symptoms and had a terrible cough and again this really helped and seemed to bring a slight temperature down before it got out of hand and for period pains....well I have nothing as good as this....not even stuff prescribed from the Dr!
Brilliant for alot of ailments these are simply fantastic. I can't possibly tell you how crippling my head problems were and I was getting scared, now as soon as I feel it starting I zap it with a couple of these!
I wholeheartedly recommend people to get these. They are fast and effective and if they can help me with colds, hayfever, back pain and headaches/migraines they are worth their weight in gold to me. Ok they don't taste brilliant but like my Mother always said medicine that works isn't meant to taste good lol. Brill all rounder, medicine cupboard must have for me from now on and I always have a couple in a bag for emergencies!
I purchased mine in Boots costing £2.75 for a box of 12 and they are available in all good supermarkets and chemists.
