I have recently began using fake tan. I had seen these mitts around but forgot to buy one the first time I used fake tan which meant I just applied it with my hands. I knew that there was a chance I could get orange palms but I thought as long as I washed my hands every couple of minutes I would be ok. Oh how wrong I was! My palms ended up bright orange and it was difficult to get it off! I also noticed that my tan was quite streaky.
Therefore, when I next went into town I made a tan mitt one of my must haves on my list. I did look in superdrug but couldn't find one so ended up in Boots where I found these hanging near the fake tans. I didnt see a price but picked one up anyway thinking that it was going to be an essential and I needed to buy one regardless of price! When I got to the till it cost me £2.66 however, there is currently an offer of save 1/3 on, it would usually cost £3.99. I didnt realise this until I looked at the receipt and was very pleased with myself for finding a bargain! The mitt comes in a plastic wrapping bag, on the packet it tells you about the mitt, saying it will help avoid a streaky tan and and also stained hands. On the back of the packet it tells you how to use it which is straight forward. It tells you which side to apply the tan with and also how to clean the mitt after use.
I found the mitt really easy to use. It fitted on my hand easily and was a comfortable fit. To use, you simply wipe the tan over your skin using the mitt. I found that coverage was so much easier using this and I found it much quicker than before. The mitt is soft and does not irritate my skin and I found that I ended up with a much more even tan and as promised, no orange hands! The tan absorbed into my skin quickly and it was dry within seconds. To clean the mitt is very simple, you just run it under warm water and then add some soap until the water runs clear. This cleans the mitt up really well, although there is fake tan staining it is far lighter than what it would have been had I not washed it.
The mitt lasts well. I have used it a few times now and it is still good as new. However, when this one does begin to get tatty I will certainly be buying a new one. It is a good quality product and for the current price, a bargain! You can also get a mitt for applying fake tan to the face.
