Songs of Praise

Okay, so most of you probably don't even watch 'Songs of Praise' on a Sunday evening. You've got better things to do with your life, right? The services are boring, all filled with old dears wearing woolie hats and coats. Well, you are (most of the time) wrong in thinking this! Religion ... Read review

GIVE GOD THE GLORY FROM HOME

Advantages: Some of the meetings
Disadvantages: Possibly the 'old fashioned' types of meetings

...in them singing modern worship songs with live bands and singers!

And 'Songs of Praise' shows a whole variety of different Churches congregating to worship our God! Yes, the majority of the services are held in traditional Churches with traditional hymns and preaching going on. But, from time to time, they do show how other people worship and praise the Lord. Personally, I'm not into the traditional form of worship, and do prefer ...
...it shows that religion is not boring and can actually be FUN!! Yes, you heard right! Religion is NOT boring!! A good time can be had!

Pam Rhodes is the main presenter of the programme, along with her friend Steve Chalke and a black lady, although I can't for the life of me remember her name! It can be seen on Sunday evenings at 5:55pm on BBC1 for half an hour.

The programme primarily contains music, with the words appearing ... more

...to write a review on Songs of Praise, as it is currently on the television! It is a religious (Christian) programme that is always on a late Sunday afternoon, between five and six o'clock or thereabouts. It is shown on BBC1, I am guessing under their stand on representing people from all walks of life. Why they never keep to the same times I shall never know, but in my own opinion I think that tey should because the majority of people I believe who ...
...from me. Songs of Praise is not what it used to be, in my mind. In years gone by, you could tune in to watch a full church service from start t end with all of the trimmings - songs; hymns, and prayers or similar. But now, they seem to have gone mad choir competitions; telling you about the history of where it is that they are filming from, and so on. I am not saying that I don't agree with these things because I do, but I just think that this is ...

Great if you cant get out of the house

Advantages: Good music, good presenters. People having FUN!
Disadvantages: Churches are always full

...the service, as when the songs are being sung, the words come up on the telly. The only thing I have against this programme, is that, no matter what Church they go to, it is ALWAYS full! Now, I know for a fact that this is NEVER the case on a normal week! Probably, only about one quater of these people go on a regular basis, the rest are there only to be on TV! All in all, it's a good programme that caters for all age ranges, covering a good range ...

...Surely Songs of Praise has already had enough airtime on Sky 1, ITV and BBC 1 with Football and Rugby, which have far superior effort in their vocal ability which only songs of Praise lives in their shadow but I guess this shows you who is true in their praising. ...

religious karaoke

Advantages: None that I can see
Disadvantages: boring,boring,boring

I don't get this programme. Why would anyone want to watch people singing in church?Does anyone in their right minds actually sing along, or are the words just there for deaf people. I find it incredibly boring and although I have no wish to upset anyone who watches it, why don't you just go to church? It's probably one of those things that you appreciate more as you get older like Thora Hird and Last of the Summer wine, don't even get me started ...

whats wrong with Sundays

Advantages: eastenders omnibus
Disadvantages: the rest of what they put on

What is going on? Especially recently, Televsion on Sunday's is complete and utter crap!! Why is there nothing on? Don't they know that Sunday's are boring enough without having nothing to watch on television??? I have got to the point where I don't even switch on the TV on sundays because it's so appauling!! It may be OK if you're into watching songs of praise or the antiques roadshow, but for us youngsters its boring as hell. There are hardly any shops open either so we can't go shopping, plus we need money for this or for any sort of entertainment. This is probably one of the main reasons for crime and vandalism amoungst youths!!!! ...

You Cant Beat A Bit Of Bully

Advantages: see review

(why??) to take back to the Scottish highlands with them. No, I never understood the main prize. So, like I was saying, it sucked but we loved it. Its a real triumph of gameshow production and it was a shame when they pulled it because it was so bad that it was good. we loved the bendy bully, Jim's suck-up act, the sleazy way the money was handed around and the sheer appauling contestant selection. Sure, darts is a pub game, but does every contestant have to look like they spend 18 hour an day in one? I remember watching it because Songs of Praise or some other religious claptrap was on the BBC and my parents always insisted on having Sunday lunch around the same time - which happened to coincide with when it was on the telly. I think its still knocking around some satellite channel somewhere - or at least the re-runds are so you can still ...

better than Coxy. Regular features of his show include The Big Fact Hunt. Camp Man (The search to find the camprest man in the UK), Your Call, His regular prank calls using various celebrities sound clips and recently the official UK Download Chart. During the weekends we start off with Spoony who has quizzes and is light hearted entertainment. Then we have the wonderous Vernon Kay who apparently be on up to 7 different forms of the media at any one time. He has regular quizzes as well as the Sunday Lie-in which i am listening to now in fact . Next up is the New boys JK and Joel who have regular features such as Songs of Praise and once again lots of quizzes and phone-ins. Then on Satrdays we get The official R&B Chart with Trevor Nelson and on Sundays we get Wes with the Official UK Top 40. Radio 1 is the first station to release ...
