Fast, fly-by, running, jumping, gliding action. And only one game can boast all these features. Sonic Adventure 2 : Battle. Featuring Sonic and all his friends (and foes) you get to fight as either the good guys (Sonic, Knuckles and Tails) to try and the stop world domination by the bad guys (Dr Eggman, Shadow and Rouge). It was clever idea which adds longetivity to the game and also makes it quite original, as normally you only have to stop the 'baddies'.
Each character has their own type of action stage, Sonic and Shadow have fast 3D running stage games where basically you collect rings and destroy enemies as quickly as possible to get a good ranking. Tails and Eggman control robots and they have shooting stages where you destroy everything in site, collect rings and try and reach for the goal in the best time possible. Knuckles and Rouge have treasure-hunt style stages where you must search a stage for 3 pieces of a certain emerald, and find them, in the quickest time possible. Each stage, no matter which character, has 5 missions, ranging from collecting 100 rings to saving baby Chao. In order to get all the emblems (collected after completing a task of some sort) you must get A rank on every single mission, which is almost impossible. Still, it gives a dedicated gamer a challenge and adds life to the game.
There is also a quite advanced mini-game style adventure, where you breed, nurture, race and fight with cute little creatures called Chao. You can teach them tricks in a Kindergarten, make them super happy so that they can be Hero's or make them upset so that they become Dark! They live in 3 gardens and depending on what you feed them and if you pet (or throw) them, they will become your best friend or your mischeivous mate. Either way, your Chao can participate in a variety of events, racing being one. Winning gets you liitle Chao toys!
The general gameplay of SA2:B is pretty repetitive, as you know what each character must do in their stage and you do the stages in order. Although the variety of mini-games is good, it still really isn't enough to make you feel they had done their best.
The graphics are average. Nothing absolutely spectacular but for a game like that graphics defintely aren't everything. The cut scenes littered throughout the games have graphics only slightly better than in-game graphics though so in that respect they could have worked harder. Yet, on the plus side, the stages really are quite expansive, especially the treasure hunts, and it will take you quite a while to explore them fully. And even better, even on the fast stages, there is very little slowdown.
One of the best aspects of this game is the music. As with almost all Sonic games, it's a tiny but cheesy. But this music is actually really good, and there are so many tracks it's a shame more stages/cut scenes couldn't be included to give them all a chance to shine. Some of the character themes are absolutely amazing but get very few playings, so you have to go into the sound test to hear them, which is a bit annoying.
Overall, SAB:2 is a fairly good game. With subtle references to other Sega games and popular films its quite interesting to play just to see if you otice "another poster" and the kart racing game, although very simple, is quite good as a free game. Not the best game ever but definitely a very good one at least.

Advantages: Verylong, multiple characters, different gameplaymodes, levels and secrets unlockable, multiplayer games, raising 'Chaos' as pets. Disadvantages: Only twoplayer games, path/route obvious, not much freedom to explore levels, poorly dubbed/lip-synched.
Advantages: Huge game with lots of different things to do Disadvantages: Difficulty level is inconsistent, with the treasure hunting levels being often frustratingly difficult
