sonic adventure battle is a game made better from the original dreamcast game.

In story mode you can choose to be the dark team or hero team.
In the hero story sonic has been captured by the police, and doesn't know why he has been. He gets away from the police helicopter and lands in the city. The level begins with sonic on a peice of the plane used a skowboard. He has abilities of rolling, jumping and honing on enemies, and later have ancient light(kill enemies in a multiple attack) and light dash(able to collect loads of rings in a line. After defeating the boss we find out that the police has mistaken sonic for a black hedghog with black streaks named shadow. He finds out that shadow has taken the chaos emerald from a secure place.

You then be knuckles who is stopping rouge the bat from getting the master emerald, but eggman comes out of nowhere and tries to take the master emerald. Knuckles then shatters the master emerald and then his quest begins with his abilities of finding the lost shards, and later being able to dig and breath underwater.

Later on you can be tails who frees sonic from jail, with hisi abilities to shoot and jump in his walker. He later gets the abilities to hover, and break iron crates.

The dark story begins with eggman trying to find the ultimate life form that his grandfather had created. He breaks through the security and finds out that the ultimate life form is shadow the hedghog. Eggman gets upgrades like extra sheild and mystic flute(all characters get this to play a sonc on an ancient relic).

Shadow the hedghog has got amnesia, and thinks that humans had killed a girl named Maria(a close freind to shadow), but we later find out that he is mistaken with his memories and hears that Maria wanted him to protect the humans. (The powers he gets are the same as sonics.)

Rouge tha bat is a girl who loves gems and wants the master emerals so she start collecting the shards too, but later on she gives the shards to knuckles because he saved her.(Her powers are the same as knuckles except she has a few less.)

Shadow has to fight the prototype of the ultimate life form which is a huge monster with a life support machine. Shadow defeats it, but it chaos controls outside of the colony ark. It connects itself to the ark and ains directly for earth. Sonic and shadow harness the powers of the chaos emeralds and become super.

At the end they defeat the monster, but shadow the hedgehog also dies.

There is also kart mode, and multi player mode. Chaos are also in this game which are cute little animals which you can transfer through sonic advance 1.
