Are you ready to experience a dynamic difference with the Sonicare Elite electric toothbrush? Taking patented sonic technology to a higher level, this fantastic toothbrush combines high-speed bristle motion and dynamic, fluid cleaning action for an exceptionally thorough clean. The Sonicare Elite HX7351 brings together Philips' patented sonic technology with a next-generation design including a slim, angled neck, tapered brush head and contour-fit bristles to provide thorough and more comfortable cleaning, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

The first time I ever heard of the Sonicare electric toothbrush was when I saw a television advert about 3 years ago. I've always maintained a good oral hygiene regime and have never had any major issues with my teeth. Having said that, I also felt that there was always room for improvement added to the fact I'm a sucker for gadgets… I decided to buy a Sonicare toothbrush! I've now been using my Sonicare for approx 2 years and haven't looked back since. Even my dentist has commented on how well I clean my teeth!

What's included?

• One Sonicare Elite Toothbrush with brush head
• One Charger base with easy-wrap cord
• One Brush head holder
• 1 Deluxe travel case

After completing the simple assembly of screwing the head into the body (after charging it of course), I proceeded to use the toothbrush as instructed. 30 seconds for each quadrant (Top front/back and bottom front/back teeth). Afterwards all I could say was WOW! I remember thinking to myself that you normally only get this sort of clean after a visit to the dentist, now I can get this everyday!? Fitted with a 2 pin plug for use in bathroom shaver socket, I found that the brush provided deep yet gentle cleansing. It was a precise combination of soft rounded bristles and some longer ones designed to clean hard to reach areas. Please note, It's well worth washing the insides of the head and body after each use, otherwise toothpaste residue builds up which isn't easy to clean.

About the Sonicare.

The Sonicare boasts quite a few great features including:

A built-in Easy-Start programme gently increases brushing power over 14 uses, helping you get accustomed to using your Sonicare Elite. There's also an automatic timer built in that shuts off after two minutes to ensure the correct amount of brushing time as recommended by dental professionals.

A helpful Quad Pacer function helps you keep to a thorough brushing regime. This uses a 30-second interval timer to encourage sufficient brushing of each quadrant of your mouth, emitting a short beep and pausing briefly every 30 seconds as a signal to move to the next section of your mouth.

Recharging the toothbrush is simple and easy, using the included base-station. A dual colour recharge indicator blinks yellow if the battery charge is low and glows steady green when it's full.

Sonicare's patented sonic technology combines high-frequency brushing with wide sweeping motion to create fluid forces. This dynamic fluid action effectively removes plaque, improves gingival health and naturally whitens teeth.

Recharge indicator, indicates when the handle needs recharging, is charging or is fully charged. Long-life batteries give up to two weeks of brushing twice a day between charging.

The Sonicare Elite's bristles move even faster than those of other leading electric toothbrushes, directing fluid into those hard-to-reach areas to remove plaque even more effectively.

What the manufacturer's say…

The Philips Sonicare Elite range is THE next generation toothbrush boasting a wealth of features. Philips guarantee whiter, healthier teeth in 28 days. Powerful enough to significantly reduce plaque and stains on teeth, yet safe and gentle on gums. Clinically proven to significantly remove tea, coffee, and tobacco stains in 28 days!

These are some bold claims and I think anyone in doubt should at least give it a go because if they are not completely happy with it, they can always get a full refund! Sonicare also claim that their brushes are clinically proven to reverse gingivitis.

Costs

I personally paid £79.99 for mine but prices vary from £74.99 up to £129.99. A. depending on where you buy it and B. depending on which model you purchase from the Elite range. It may seem to be expensive initially but it's incredibly effective and will pay for itself in the long run as a result of lower costs at the Dentist. When you see the improvement both to the appearance and condition of your teeth, I think most people will agree that it's worth it. The replacement heads also vary in price, I paid £10 from e-bay for the last pair I bought but the regular price is approx £19.99 for two.

Overall

Some may wonder what all the fuss is about, my advice is you won't know until you've used it. Although dentists will tell you that using proper technique with an ordinary toothbrush is adequate, I find that using this brush is a much more pleasant and equally effective (if not better) method of brushing. The product feels good to use, has a sleek and stylish design and doesn't clutter up the bathroom unnecessarily.

One downside is that replacements heads are expensive (about £20) but you should only have to change them every 6 months if you use correctly and again if you shop around you could get them for as little as £10. Once charged the toothbrush will keep going for about 5-6 days (based on my usage of 2 minutes, twice a day) which is ideal when traveling as you don't always have to take the charger. My mouth feels cleaner and my teeth have gotten slightly whiter since using this Sonicare brush. I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering getting one.
