Son's of destiny is the conclusion to this magnificent series. Personally for me it has to be said, i was disapointed. Don't get me wrong most of the book was a brilliant read. I just feel it should have ended in the middle of this book. The ending left me wondering ... ...not say what happened for it would ruin it for others but it was a bit strange.
Most of the book was quite clever and well written. there were moments of great excitement like there is in all previous 11 books. We follow Darren through some of his toughest challenges, all the characters that have died, all the fights that have been fought and every friend, and enemy has built up to this. Son's of destiny is the conclusion to this magnificent series. Personally for me it has to be said, i was disapointed. Don't get me wrong most of the book was a brilliant read. I just feel it should have ended in the middle of this book. The ending left me wondering if there was any point to the series. I can not say what happened for it would ruin it for others but it was a bit strange.
Most of the book was quite clever and well written. there were moments of great excitement like there is in all previous 11 books. We follow Darren through some of his toughest challenges, all the characters that have died, all the fights that have been fought and every friend, and enemy has built up to this. Therefore any fan of the series so far will snatch up the book and finish it in one sitting, which is easily done due to the short lengths of his novels.
The characters are as deep as ever, the relationships seem real enough so there is a connection to the reader, it could have been the perfect ending had it not gone on after the climax.
There is not a lot more i can say other than, i love the previous books, all would recieve a five star rating from me for they are flawless. however Son's of destiny is not the thrilling conclusion i had hoped for, still a worth while read, and in places rather brilliant, but all the tension seems to build up only to eventually get nowhere, trailing off leaving you wondering where to go next.
Advantages: Exciting, engaging and a brilliant end to a great saga. Disadvantages: Not everyone will like the ending, but most will.
Sons of Destiny is written by Darren Shan, an author widely believed to be the best children's horror writer ever, and one of the best writers for children in any category around at the moment. The book is part of a series called The Darren Shan saga, in which a teenage boy has his life changed forever when after attending an illegal freak show, he steals an amazing spider, which belongs to a real-life vampire, Mr. Crepsley. When his friend gets ... ...kill the Vampaneze Lord. Sons of Destiny focuses on the battle between Darren and the Vampaneze Lord, and what happens after. Without wanting to give anything away, it has a 'Marmite' ending (you either love it or you hate it!) With a twist and turn on every page, this makes for a must-have in any teenager from the age of 11 onwards book collection. It's a thrilling end to a groundbreaking series, and for it's cheap price, it should be a definite ...
