Review of Sony Micro Vault Ultra Mini - USB flash drive - 2 GB by m_lucas11

Advantages: Good storage space, fast upload/download speed, reliable
Disadvantages: None

...I have one of these sony 2GB micro vaults and i could not live without it. The sony 2GB micro vault features 2GB of plug and play storage so there is no need to install drivers for this product as it does it for you once plugged into the computer. The sony 2GB micro vault uses a high USB 2.0 interface to connect to the computer to allow fast transfer of files. It is also compatible with USB 1.1 so the micro vault can be used on older computers aswell as newer ones. When you purchase the sony 2GB micro vault you will find a file compressor and decompressor ready installed on the memory stick. This takes hardly any space on the micro vault and is able to compress files down to three times their original size which is useful to safe space for extra files. i would advise that if the files are needed on a regular basis they should... Tape is dead
Review of Sony DAT 4 GB by ben-lloyd

Advantages: Small, lightweight, efficient, reliable. does what it says
Disadvantages: Tape, small capacity, price, slow, storage/usage issues

...The Sony DGD120P is the second incarnation of the DDS tape format used for computer backup in the 1990s. Back in the days when company data took up a few gigabytes of disk space, the DDS2 cartridge provided a relatively cheap and efficient way to backup and restore data easily. ~~~ Appearance ~~~ Looking not unlike a modern Mini-DV casette, the DGD120P measures 72mm x 52mm x 10mm in black plastic with a small window showing the tape spooled inside. Unlike a video casette, the tape contained within cannot be easily accessed by prying fingers and the wheels used for spooling the tape are inaccessible until the cartridge is inserted into a drive. On the spine of the cartridge is a small white switch allowing the user to write-protect the tape and preserve a copy of the data contained thereupon. Each cartridge is also supplied... Read review

Western Digital My book 500GB hard drive
Review of My Book Essential Edition 2.0 WDH1U5000 500 GB by jupiter28

Advantages: small, lots of storage and really reliable
Disadvantages: less portable than a small form hard disk drive, needs main to use

...This is my second hard drive. The first one I bought was a sony vaio that I bought off of ebay - a portable 120GB hard disk drive from the far east. It started giving me disk read and write errors about three to four months after I bought it. Moral of the story, buy from a reputable manufacturer and seller. So I bought this from Amazon co uk, who are by far a superior online seller. Prices have come down and i managed to get this for £60 including free delivery. The drive is compact, not portable. It needs to be plugged into mains as well as the computer which makes it less portable, but it is so quiet I can't even hear that is switched on even when it is writing or reading. I would highly recommend this product or even one of the bigger sized ones, though I couldn't afford the 1TB mybook. Remember 500GB is marketing, actual... Read review
