Advantages: massive choice of titles, built in blu-ray disc player Disadvantages: liable to overheating
I am now on my 2nd ps3 40gb console in the past 2 years and have had alot of enjoyment from them, however after moderate use (3-4 times a week for no more than 4 hours at a time) around 6 months from purchase you begin to exprience problems with overheating even when the console is well ventilated. The problem begins with the consoles internal fan running faster and so creating alot more noise resulting in the user having to greatly adjust the volume in order to hear what ever they are playing/watching on the console and after a further 6-9 months the console begins to have problems with switching on and off until it eventually loses function altogether. Advantages: HD, free controller, built in blu-ray and wi-fi, free online play Disadvantages: doesnt play PS2 games
wi-fi you can access any computer in the houses pictures, videos and music, but only if you set it up to do that on the computers, so don't worry, no one nasty can steal them :). Really, you don't need a wireless file transmitter thingie costing you £200, you only need a PS3!
Unfortunately, if you buy the common 40GB console you can't play PS2 games. But if you buy the 60GB console, you can. However Sony have stopped making the 60GB console because they feel that no-one wants to buy a new console to play old games. ...
Advantages: free online gaming, great layout, great looks (60gb), lean mean gaming machine Disadvantages: too big, not many decent games yet...
Its the best game console out there if you ask me, the only downside to it is that it doesnt yet have many kick ass games out like the xbox 360 apart from that ps3 is the best you can get. Furthermore if you dont get the 60gb verison then you certainly dont get the best out of it, or your moneys worth to be honest. The 40gb version is made with the cheap accessories such as a plastic grey and dull looking plate rather than the chrome one i know its a small details but for that sorta money your expecting much better things. the 40gb only has 2 controller slots whereas the 60gb has 4. I also heard that japan stopped making 60gb ps3's so its a good idea to get a 60gb while you can! ...
